In most cases when considering the facts it is important to arbitrate between two sides to determine which is right and which is wrong.
This is somewhat similar to the role of the mediator. The psychologist or the counselor may call in an outside specialist but once it is important to evaluate both sides to a story then the psychologist should accept that role, whether he wants or does not want to do so.
Most issues that involve two sides do require arbitration and the psychologist would do well to hone his arbitration skills in order to be able to handle it.
