The Grove Singers is a Christian gospel group from Lexington, North Carolina dedicated to the ministry of Jesus Christ and spreading the good news of the Gospel in song. The group was formed in late 1980. The name "The Grove Singers" was derived from the two churches, Holly Grove Lutheran and Hedrick's Grove United Church of Christ, from which its original members came. However, The Grove Singers does not represent any particular denomination. The group represents Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
The Grove Singers sings a variety of gospel songs, ranging from the Chuckwagon Gang favorites to Negro spirituals. Many old gospel favorites, as well as some that are on the current gospel charts, are performed at a variety of functions, with a concentration on church services, revivals, homecomings, reunions, and gospel singings. The group charges no fee.
The members of the group are: Judy Conrad of Lexington (front row, center), who plays keyboard and serves as the group's director; Bill Baughn (back row, center) of Thomasville who sings bass for the group; Barbara Kepley (front row, left) of Lexington, who sings alto; Micky Conrad (back row, right) of Lexington, who is the group's tenor; Vicki Hedrick of Welcome (front row, right), who is the group's soprano; Butch Conrad of Lexington (back row, center), who sings lead and serves as the group's spokesman; Tim Conrad of Lexington (not pictured), who does videos for the group.
The group members have all accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. They take nothing for themselves, but give God all the glory for the talent that they are able to share with others. They believe that the ministry of music is a vital ministry of the church. They strive to serve the Lord and their fellow man as long as He gives them the strength to do His Holy Will.
