• Organize the Girl Scout troops in your area to help with a large service project. Some ideas are sorting food for a food bank, filling stockings for a local homeless shelter, or sorting clothes for the local Salvation Army. Finish the project by inviting the participating troops to help distribute the goods, meet some of those who benefit from their work, or just taking a tour of the organization they helped.

• Organize a disability awareness day for local Girl Scout troops. Plan activities that help the girls understand the challenges that various disabilities pose. Invite local organizations that work with the disabled to set up booths at the event & share information.
• Organize a celebration of cultures in your community. Invite people of different faiths, ethnicities, & cultural backgrounds to come talk to younger Girl Scouts & teach them about their culture. Include games, songs, dances, foods, etc.

Girl Scouting:

• Organize a Girl Scout recruitment day in your community. Work with local media to publicize the event. Invite Girl Scout troops to set up booths about their activities & plans for the future.
• Organize a Service Unit bridging ceremony. See which girls will be bridging into new troops (leader won't be moving up with them). Use the Bridging Ceremony as an opportunity for these girls to meet & spend time with the troop they will be in the next year. This will help them get comfortable in their new troop & make it more likely they will return to Scouts the next year.
• Create a resource library for local leaders. Gather badge books, handbooks, & other resource books & find a location where they can be available for leaders to check out. Work with your Service Unit or council to plan who will keep track of the books, how long they can be checked out, & any fines for overdue or lost books.
• Organize a Uniform closet for Girl Scouts in your area. Solicit donations of gently used uniforms from past Girl Scouts in your community. Make the closet available to area Girl Scouts who need a complete uniform for a formal occasion (Flag ceremony, interview, Wider Opportunity, etc.) Also solicit donations/sponsors to insure that all girls in the Service Unit have a sash or vest to place their badges on.
• Plan a Day Camp for your area. Recruit volunteers, plan activities, & advertise the event. If possible, advertise it within the community, to bring other girls into Girl Scouts.
• Sponsor a special Girl Scout event for a Scouting in the School Day group. Invite area troops to help run the event & meet the GSSD members. Help the GSSD girls to earn a badge, or simply teach Girl Scout traditions, such as favorite songs, games & crafts.
• Plan & carry out a "Cookie Kick Off" event for your Service unit. Have cookie related activities. Possible ideas include games that teach about safety rules, songs about Girl Scout cookies, or cookie crafts.

• Plan & carry out an outdoor skills day for younger Girl Scouts. Teach the basic outdoors skills, such as knot tying, fire building, cooking out of doors, etc.
• Design activity boxes about the local ecosystem for use with younger Girl Scout troops. Contact your local forestry or natural resources departments for brochures & other information. Make the activity boxes available to local leaders.
• Do an environmental survey of a local Girl Scout camp. Make a booklet or presentation about the different kinds of plant & animal life that can be found at the camp. Create a walking tour of the camp hilighting the various species that can be found there.

Resources for Girl Scout Leaders:

• Create a guidebook of community resources for new leaders. Ask people & organizations in your community if they would be willing to be listed in the book as a resource for Girl Scout troops. For example, find dentists in your area who would be willing to give tours, craftsmen who would be willing to teach a skill, etc. Make the book available to leaders in your area.
• Talk to Brownie or Junior leaders to find out what Try-its & badges pose the biggest challenge for them, in terms of materials and/or knowledge. Choose one or two of these & put together "Badge Boxes" containing the materials & information needed to earn the badge. Make these boxes available to local leaders.
• Put together a Flag Ceremony in a box. Collect materials for a proper flag ceremony (red sashes, white gloves). Type up & laminate procedures & commands for the ceremony. Make the box available to local leaders.
• Create a guidebook for new leaders. It can be about the basics of Girl Scout ceremonies, planning a Scout's Own, simple crafts for different ages, or games for rainy days. Make the guide available to leaders in your area.
• Make a videotape of yourself or your troop doing popular action songs. Make the tape available to leaders in your area.
• Make a picture book of council camp sites for new leaders in your area. New leaders can check out the book to see what the different camp sites look like, so they can make an informed choice about where to take their troop.

Science:

• Hold a science day for local Girl Scouts. Ask local science teachers & businessmen to donate time, ideas, & supplies. Show the girls how to do "fun" science experiments & earn on e of the science related try-its or badges.

Sports:

• Hold a sports clinic for younger girls. Teach girls the basics of a sport. Let the girls show what they have learned by holding a tournament on the last day of the clinic.
