Biography [1]
GUIDO PAGLIARINO is a graduate of
The University of Turin where his degree thesis was published by the Economic
and Social History Institute of this University. The History of Economy and the
History of Economic and Social Doctrines were of most important interest to this
author during his studies, under the guidance of Prof.. Carlo
Cipolla and Prof. Mario Abrate.
In the following years, despite wider interests including the
publications of poetry books, the care of anthologies and several works
published in literary and humanity magazines, the author's interest in history
and philosophy continued; above all Epistemology as this interestest had been
particularly instrumental in the discovery of books by the philosopher Karl R.
Popper. This discovery would eventually lead Dr. Pagliarino back to Christianity.
"The agnostic Prof. Popper’s
books?", one would question in astonishment.
Yes, is the author's answer, for he had been consumed and conceited by
Scientism. With Karl Popper, he opened himself to deeper and more humble
searches. Prof. Poppers says, in substance, there is nothing certain in
science; on the contrary, one can only temporarily accept a conjecture powered
by experiments, and only if it is susceptible to be counterfeit.
Then, Guido Pagliarino thought: "Why should theology be treated any
less than science?”; and he started researching Christian history and doctrine.
Intellectual meetings of a persistent, friendly association with Father
Charles Jegge, until the death of that dear person, were the determining factor
for the author’s return to Christianity and for an ulterior deepening of his
faith.
The author collaborates on articles and book reviews of various magazines.
In addition, he has written for other Italian magazines such as Talento
(Talent), Controcampo (An
Adverse Vision) Spiritualità e
Letteratura (Spirituality and Literature),
Vernice (Varnish), Penna
d’Autore (The Author's Pen), Il
Corriere di Roma (The Rome Courier), and Cultura e Società (Culture
and Society). He also holds conferences on lesser
known Christian aspects, about history and doctrine, and writes prefaces for
publishers. In the past, he has held the position of editor for some of
these publishing houses.
The author has been honored with the “Award Of Culture By The
Chairmanship Of The (Italian) Council Of Ministers” for his writings.
