Element 11a: Make arrangements to assess facilities available (suggested methods of assessment: record) * note of time, date etc. for visiting campsite * evidence of previous camp at site (photos, booking form etc.) * photos of self at site * details of accommodation - site info or handwritten by self at visit or from info given by site contact * notes on access to site (vehicles, disabled, public) * checklist of needs of event (space, tentage, water supply, etc.) ticked for this venue * list of additional equipmenet needed, annotated for where to get it from Element 11b: Set ground rules for the effective and sustainable use of site and facilities (suggested methods of assessment: record) * emergency notice from camp noticeboard including emergency meeting points * signed note from participant saying about fire drill * signed note from participant stating you discussed emergency procedures, boundaries, rules * recording of boundaries, camp rules, environment care discussions * map of site from notice board, showing boundaries * camp rules from notice board * note of any relevant physical characteristics of site - water, plants, wildlife etc. Element 11c: Obtain and transport suitable equipment (suggested methods of assessment: question) note – details of equipment can be found in Camps and Holidays * list of equipment supplied at site * list of equipment needed from elsewhere, annotated for transport requirements * copies of booking forms if any equipment officially borrowed / rented * notes from people you borrowed equipment from * note from any parent etc. who transported equipment * note of condition of equipment when it arrived / you obtained it * photos of packed equipment * note of any special packing arrangements (eg. axes, where gas is carried) * photos of camp storage of hazardous equipment * note of camp storage of hazardous equipment, possibly signed by other staff member Element 11d: Allocate and set up equipment and facilities for use (suggested methods of assessment: question, discussion, record) * site plan * list of site pitching tasks with people (girls / staff) allocated to each * photo of pitching * note of any changes to pitching order * photos of self assisting pitching where necessary! * note of what you did to help pitching - physical, supervisory, providing drinks... * photos of equipment well stored * list of equipment taken, annoted with storage arrangements. Element 11e: Maintain equipment and facilities for use (suggested methods of assessment: observation, question, discussion) Note: further details can be found in Camps and Holidays * copy of inspection "syllabus" and scores if used * duty rota, including what's included in each job * photos of bedding rolls being done, with adult help where needed * info about care of tents etc. in different weather (from books etc.?) * basic notes on tent / personal gear care from notice board - list of daily tasks? Element 11f: Take down equipment and make arrangements for storage (suggested methods of assessment: record) * striking plan (order of tasks with people responsible for each noted) * timetable for last day or 2 including pot cleaning, checking of equipment etc. * checklist for equipment before it's packed away (eg. number of pegs in tents) * note of contingency plans in event of wet tents * signed note from anyone involved in contingency plans (eg. who's garden you're using) * list of any repairs needed * checklist of equipment & where it has to go back to, ticked off / signed by owners. * receipts for return of hired equipment * notes from owners of borrowed equipment saying returned on time & in good condition * signed note from site contact saying facilities returned in good condition * photos of strike - cleaning, tents striking, equipment checks, cobhouses of pegs for counting... |
