| Dollar Market |
| A Dollar Market is a patrol challenge event. This one is designed to last for a full meeting. Each patrol is given a list of the challenges. A price list is either given to each patrol or displayed by the "market". The patrols must buy equipment in order to do challenges (for example if one challenge is to do a wordsearch then they must buy the wordsearch and possibly a pen). If they complete the challenge satisfactorily they are given more money in return. Note that if the challenge isn't done properly they have lost the money paid for the equipment. Equipment may only be kept for the duration of the challenge for which it was bought - if it's needed for two challenges they must pay twice. |
| Challenges with reward Wire a plug $12 Knitting: cast on 10 stitches, knit 2 rows and then cast off $15 Sew on a button or badge neatly $10 Polish a guiders badge $10 Make a secure bedding roll $25 What is at Ordnance Survey map reference 319 606 on map 66? $10 Label the tent diagram correctly $8 Tie a reef knot, clove hitch, figure of eight and a round turn and two half hitches correctly - $2 for each correct knot Fill in a “police record” for each of your patrol (as well as a pack of record sheets you’ll need an inkpad for your fingerprints) $15 Do the “promise” wordsearch $8 Do the easy guiding quiz $4 Write the name of your patrol using the phonetic alphabet $4 Build a free-standing structure as tall as the tallest member of your patrol using only newspaper and sellotape $12 Make a friendship bracelet with wool $8 Produce a piece of Mexican weaving at least 4 inches across $10 Make wax rubbings of 3 very different surfaces in and around the guide hut and label them neatly $8 Do the easy first aid quiz $4 Treat one of your patrol for a sprained ankle (don’t forget to bandage it carefully using a crepe bandage) $10 Apply a broken arm sling to one of your patrol $10 Apply an elevation sling to one of your patrol $10 |
