Find out how much exercise your guides get in a day –maybe one patrol could organise a survey.  Some girls may get loads, others very little.  Try discussing how much exercise we should get (the government guidelines are at least 3 sessions of 20 minutes per week).  If you have a lot of less active girls, get them to think about how to fit 20 minutes of physical activity into their daily life.  It may help to point out that exercise isn’t necessarily PE lessons!  For example these everyday activities can count if they're done with moderate intensity--and most take little, if any, extra time.
? Do housework
? Wash the car
? Take the stairs instead of the lift or escalator.
? Persuade your parents to park at the far end of the carpark for a longer walk.
? Get off the bus a stop ahead, then walk the rest of the way.
? Walk around during school breaks rather than sitting in the classroom or on the playground.
? Walk the dog – yours or someone elses.
? Do some gardening. In the autumn, rake leaves; in winter, sweep or shovel snow.  Bonus: it’ll make you very popular with your parents!
? Ride your bike or walk to school or to a friends' home, rather than getting a lift or using the bus.
? Avoid the "couch potato" syndrome by doing things as you watch tv.
? Rent an exercise video, rather than a movie. And work out with the video as a leisure-time activity.
