Salads and crudites

experiment with salad dressings
for some dips to use with crudites have a look at the
Net Guides website.

Drinks
smoothies (see Go For It healthy eating, published by Girlguiding UK)
milkshakes - particularly if you have a liquidiser this can work well.  Provide milk, fruit (fresh, tinned, frozen, whatever - soft fruit is better, like oranges, berries or bananas), ice cream.  Let them experiment with small quantities.
coctails - again, let them experiment (without alcohol!).  fruit juices, lemonade, slices of fruit, ice cubes, umbrellas.  Can they work out how to coat the rim of the glass with sugar or salt?

banana drink

Sandwiches
Sandwich roll - like swiss roll. Take bread, put thin layer of topping on one side (either meat or a spread) and roll up, fasten with a cocktail stick
Shaped sarnies - sandwiches cut with cookie cutters
Danish open sandwiches - thick slice of fresh bread with fillings piled on top, no bread on top.
Tired of bread? Try pitta, baguetta, naan...

Make your own pot noodle
cup a soup of your choice and chow mein noodles

Thanks to various people for these ideas, particularly Amanda Kerr-Munslow of GuidingUK

Bread roll pizzas
This is a good way to use up bread rolls that aren’t totally fresh!
Cut the roll in half (as you would to fill it with sandwich filling)
Toast the “outside” halves under a grill
On the “inside” surfaces spread tomato puree or tinned tomatoes (or even tomato ketchup) then a few pizza toppings (try persuading the guides to use vegetables like mushrooms and sweetcorn) and then about a tablespoon of cheese.
Grill your pizza and eat while still hot!
