The five programme zones - general points |
To check out what sort of activities fit under each zone, the Net Guides website is a good place to start. From their front page there is a tent for each of the five zones, click on the appropriate one to check out what they have included. Another good place to look is at the Baden Powell Challenge syllabus. The clauses are split by zones so this gives an idea of the "official" version of what goes where! This explains the five zones as follows... Below are links to some activities on this site for each of the five zones. Healthy Lifestyles - to encourage in Guides a healthy lifestyle by promoting physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Global Awareness - to increase awareness of global issues and of the contribution each Guide can make. Discovery - to challenge Guides with new experiences and adventure. Skills and Relationships - to develop Guides' self-confidence and self-worth and to improve their inter-personal and life skills. Celebrating diversity - to promote in Guides active citizenship and to develop their awareness of rights and repsonsibilities for all. Hints: The zones - much like the old 8 points - are there to help a guider make sure no large area of program is being left out and forgotten. As long as you have a quick glance at the zones when you and the girls plan your term and see that at least one activity is there for each zone - then you are more or less there! It helps to think of them as a useful check list! They show up which areas might be a bit neglected. |
