Crash Site |
It happened August 1998 on the third day of our trip through the Scottish Highlands in Appin Lodge, Argyll (near Oban). By then the Rover was hardly one year old. The Granny in the Cavalier was very busy chatting on her mobile so she missed the curve. The airbags did not go off, but it was a good bump. The Rover had to be brought back to Germany on a trailer. We continued our trip with a hired car (Fiat Punto - well not that bad, actually!!). The total expense of the repair was 20000DM: A new side member had to be welded. Suspension and front axle, generator and intercooler needed replacement. Bumper, headlight, wing and bonnet also came new *. Fortunately nobody was really hurt and the Granny had insurance cover. * This game was repeated in 1999, but this time on the left-hand side, when a deer comitted suicide on my car. |
