AURIC HALLUCINATIONS
Suffering from "auric" hallucinations is an all too usual side-effect of the migraine headache. Whereas it can have a use as an effective tool in magic, often being hereditary, it is certainly not something to wish off on one's children.
Some migraine facts.
Most migraines are caused by one of these three:
1) A A cyst in the brain. These are usually benign and only perceivable under extreme scrutiny. A Montana Gwiddon student has migraines from this source. She's had migraines as long as she can remember - bad ones - and she's now entering her 30's. Just this year the cyst was diagnosed, but it wasn't a big shock; her mother, also a migraine sufferer, has had two benign brain tumors removed because of the migraines and has another cyst now! She feels that surgical cyst removal is a bad thing for her, and with her family history, its easy to agree. But don't let the "cancer" scare get to you - these are generally benigntumors. Many treatments work on them, from herbal and naturopathy to acupuncture to direct magical healing intervention. These cysts are "bubble" pockets of fluid. They can, and do, pop, leading to a "spontaneous cure."
Think of it as lancing a boil. With sincere desire, this can work. I've seen it - done it, in fact, with my adopted mother. Her cyst vanished so suddenly and completely that her doctors were convinced that they'd made a mis-diagnosis and apologized for scaring her.
2) An arterially traumatized nerve cluster - in particular, the artery entering the brain from behind your right ear. This artery gets pressed by the skull and muscles against a nerve cluster behind the right hear. IF you also have high blood pressure, this is a likely candidate. A migraine doesn't occur without accompanying high blood pressure if it is from nerve compression of this type. The high blood pressure is also the type that suddenly spikes and drops as well. If this fits you, western medicine now has a surgical solution (It physically moves the artery over with micro-surgery). Deep tissue massage can work and it certainly can't hurt. Any effort you make to alter the physical pathway of the artery is helpful. Acupuncture also has merit in this regard by assisting the balance and elimination of blockages in you Chi (energy) flow. Herbal nerve tonics are helpful. This particular condition is very serious and can lead to life-threatening complications. Do not hesitate to act on this.
3) The MOST common: Toxic emotions. When you get a migraine this is the likely source for it to originate from. A toxic emotion may not start out that way. All emotions are communicated through the body by the creation and distributions of hormones. Once those hormones have completed their task, they need to be eliminated. If they are not, they build up in uncontrolled concentrations, causing damage to surrounding tissue. Sometimes the body tries to contain them - thus is born a cyst. But these cysts are often leaky and so the dis-ease is long and drawn out. Popping them periodically with deep tissue massage, while it creates short-term flu-like symptoms, is a VERY good idea.
The reason why negative emotions tend to overload the hormonal elimination system is that they are strong ones and generally overly secreted. Love can do this too, as the "butterflies," stomachaches and "cold feet" can attest (cold feet is a stimulation of the flight or fight response). But love tends to create significant positive effects on the body that all lead to the elimination of toxins, thus moderating its effects. With negative emotions there is no such mitigation. As the stress of these toxins rise, the first systems attacked will be the digestive tract or the crown and frontal lobe areas on the brain, or both. People who are highly creative, artistic, empathetic or who practice magic are very susceptible here. The first task is to lower the stress level - dark, quiet, meditation - all these are very obvious.
Less obvious are some areas of the scalp that could use some massaging. On each side of the forehead for about 1 ½ to 2 inches back, there is a reflexology area that gets very tender when you have an excess of toxic emotions. You may not have noticed that it was painful to the touch before, but when you do touch it, it may REALLY HURT. Massage them until you feel some relief. Check this area often. The more frequently you massage it, the less it hurts. You will begin to see a direct correlation between life stress and this pain. Left long enough, this pain easily becomes a migraine - again, try acupuncture.
If you also have a problem with indigestion, acid reflux, ulcer, colonitis or hemorrhoids, then there is more you can do. In Chinese medicine, this type of condition is caused by a sluggish "Chinese Medicine Liver" (not the literal, physical liver, rather the Chinese medicinal descriptive one, although the literal one can be effected), that is not able to process and clean the toxins out quickly enough. Having acupuncture treatments is an exceptionally effective method of treatment in this regard. I don't think I could feel more strongly about this.
While seeing my own acupuncturist, I met a lady who was very to the point. A few weeks before, she had been on her way to buy a gun. Her migraine pain was more than she could take. My acupuncturist gives staff seminars through the local hospital - so someone, seeing her distress, suggested acupuncture. Needless to say, she is better, getting off of the pain pills and looking forward to life again. As you know, for this condition, Western medicine will only give you a fistful of Vicodan - or worse. Same is true of most ulcers - Tagamet. When I asked my acupuncturist about my stomach and head pain, I treated them as discrete problems. They were bearable, I thought, but they were contributing to my loss of blood sugar control. I am a diabetic, so this is a life-or-death issue for me. Treating has led to an average reduction in my blood glucose levels of over 90 points. The long-term effects of pain on the body are devastating - migraines are not something to ignore.
I was honestly surprised when my acupuncturist told me that my migraine was not only related to, but a result of ulcer pain. The migraine seemed so much worse in comparison. Six needles and ten minutes later, the nagging discomfort went away and - wonder of wonders - the migraine vanished. I had been hurting for so long I hadn't even noticed the lower, constant pain levels.
Keeping one's emotions in healthier condition is the key, here. Taking time for yourself and "contemplating your navel" is a good start. Consciously examining your emotional reactions is another. By placing inappropriate importance on an item, person or situation, it is easy to overreact to the situation, leaving your body to suffer in a poisonous hormone soup.
Excesses in reproductive hormones also play a key role (which is also significant in that more women than men suffer from migraines). Still, it is the same "congestion" diagnosis that has resulted from a decrease in "liver" function. Having to "eat" one's words or "swallow" one's feelings is a causal that results in an emotional "log-jam" of toxic hormones.
If your particular condition is also accompanied by digestive distress, here's an interesting idea - Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice extract (licorice root that has had the glycyrrhiza glabra plant alkaloid which raises blood pressure, removed) will significantly improve the function of your digestive tract. Two to four tablets, taken 20 minutes before meals, has been shown to work as well as or better than prescription-strength Tagamet. It certainly does for me.
Phyto Pharmica out of Green Bay, WI produces this under the name "Rhizinate." I pick it up from my Chinese Medicine doctor. A bottle of 100 runs $13.00! The worst thing for me is that they must be chewed to be fully effective - and I HATE LICORICE! It's been worth it, though!
A note about acid reflux and other gastric distress. Chronic dehydration can create symptoms that would fool even a gastroentrologist. When dehydrated (a condition common today, especially among we "fiery" types), the stomach acid becomes very thick and concentrated.
With prolonged exposure to this super strength digester, digestive tissue (particularly the duodenum and lower esophagus) can become irritated and ulcerated, mimicking a Reflux or Ulcer condition. In reality, all you need is MORE WATER. Not cola or coffee or even tea. WATER, in large quantities. Don't leave home without it.
Have fresh water at your bedside for the middle of the night. Down a bunch when you first wake up in the morning, feeling those stomach pangs. They'll evaporate before you know it. Forget the Tagamet, don't touch that Reglan.
Water, the wonder drug!!!
Seeing you well,
