| The Amtrak Rail Station at the southern end of Queen City Avenue. Queen City runs from the Black Warrior River and Jack Warner Parkway, along the western edge of the University campus, and ends up at the station on the Southside. The street is so named as the rail line once ran to Cincinnati, the Queen City. (Tuscaloosa is most commonly referred to as the Druid City.) |

| A longtime fixture in the downtown area, the Dairy Queen on the corner of 8th Ave and 21st Street has recently changed hands. The towering oaks around the building, which shaded the restaurant and gave it much of its character (in my opinion), were cut down maybe a decade ago. The restaurant has reopened as LuLus and they serve a mean cheeseburger! |
| The Moerlein Beers wall painting near City Hall and the Chukker. The City Council recently (July 2003) unveiled a plan to revitalize the downtown area. Both the Chukker and this advertisement are jeopardized. There will a nice pond in the center of town once the project is complete, but no word yet on whether it will be stocked with koi or bream. |
