Top Hat
Top Hat is generally acknowledged as the best of the Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers musicals, and it is within this film that Fred Astaire enrages the Thackeray  Club members by doing the forbidden: tap dancing.

The Thackeray Club will always be indebted to Top Hat for clearing up certain obscure details (i.e its intiation date, location). However, there are several discrepancies in its portrayal of the club. In the musical, the Thackeray Club is a club populated by horribly boring old men who perpetually read newspapers and smoke cigars. This is not true. The Thackeray Club is full of a variety of silence-enthusiasts who do more than just read and smoke at the club. Please remember, however, that the Thackeray Club was initiated to provide silence; that is its priority and raison d'etre.
