Many of my friends and family have asked me about my URL. "What is Hyperballad?" they ask. Hyper-ballad is the name of a song that Bjork wrote and released on her second solo album Post. The lyrics and interpretation are below. |
We live on a mountain right at the top there's a beautiful view from the top of the mountain every morning I walk towards the edge and throw little things off like: car-parts, bottles and cutlery or whatever I find lying around it's become a habit a way to start the day I go through all this before you wake up so I can feel happier to be safe up here with you its real early morning no one is awake I'm back at my cliff still throwing things off I listen to the sounds they make on their way down I follow with my eyes till they crash imagine what my body would sound like slamming against those rocks when it lands will my eyes be closed or open? I go through all this before you wake up so I can feel happier to be safe up here with you |
Bjork says, "I guess that song is about when you're in a relationship and it's going really well and you're really happy and maybe you have given up parts of yourself. To fall in love and be in a relationahip for a long time is alike giving a lot of parts of you away because the relationship becomes more important than you as individuals. It's a bit of a tricky blalance. I think everyone ina relationship needs to know not to forget themselves... Obviously, it's imaginary and didn't actually happen: she wakes up before him and sneaks out and throws stuff off a cliff so she can climb back into bed and go, 'Good morning honey.' There's maybe a side of you that you can't fit into a relationship. from bjork.com and www.bjork.hypercruelray.com |
