I am Hairy Steve, my real name is Stephen Pearson. I was born on 2nd of January 1979 which makes me 22 years old at the moment although I feel a lot older!
I have a sister by the name of Hannah, who is into art and dragons and stuff. My parents are Mandy and Rod, Mandy works for the Apple and Pear Research Council at HRI in Kent, Rod used to work for BAE Systems but retired in November and now builds things at home. I have three pet rats, Big Wyz, Little Wyz, and Little Wik, and two pet guinea pigs, Xaphon and Sirius.
My main interests are building models of anything and everything, and recently I have begun building radio controlled boats, cars and an off-road truck. I am also a fan of robotic combat, I prefer live events to the TV show as the live events have more character and are not rigged by house robots and so on. Also, where else can you experience the atmosphere of a fight, watching fights on the TV program just isn't the same as having Dominator 2 and Chaos 2 battling 10 metres away.
I enjoy playing computer strategy and 1st person Quake-type games, and I like most types of music apart from rap and R+B. My favourites are Oasis, Blur, Toploader, Fatboy Slim (I hope my sister isn't reading this or she'll kill me for saying that!! :) ) and Travis.
My other main interest is military history, which is due to my interest in building models of military vehicles. I am quite fortunate in living about 6 miles from a place in Kent called Beltring, which is home of the annual War and Peace show which is the largest event of its kind in the UK or possibly the world. This event has recently been extended to 5 days, and usually attracts over 3000 privately owned military vehicles where they hold theme days, driving competitions, an off-roading course, mock battles, and a massive trade area. This event is worth going to just for the chance to see some incredibly rare vehicles in action, including the massive German Famo recovery halftrack owned by Kevin Wheatcroft, which last year was used to recover an immobilised Panzer 4 in the arena - possibly the first time since the war that that has happened.
"Why isn't this camera working?"
"Hm, looks OK, the lens cover's definitely open..."
"Blimey, it does work!"
