GRANDFATHER : Of course if some issue is alive in your mind right now
which involves your grandfather then it may simply link to that. But grandfathers
can often be very symbolic. The dream world has no real symbols for the passage
of time. So grandfathers, grandmothers and old people can represent some thought
which in some way connects with the passage of time. Think of phrases such
as "this has taken too long". "I should take my time time over
this","I have been thinking over my time there" and "she
needs time to calm down".
Grandparents can also symbolise old people in general and some thought connected
with that. Also occasionally old people may represent the state of your health
and a feeling that you feel old and tired.
KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially
of the day before the dream) :
- "I am feeling old and tired"
- "I have been thinking over all the time I spent there"
- "This has gone on far too long!"
- "time has passed since it happened"
- "just when will it happen"
- "taking my time"

GRANDMOTHER : Grandmothers can of course simply link to themselves
and so if some important issue is involving them right now then you maybe
thinking about them. But they can also be symbolic. They can link to the passage
of time in some way. A grandmother may link to your assessment of how well
or badly your experience of something has been going. Its essentially then
symbolic of some review of your experiences.
KEY WORDS(Pick a quote which captures your feelings right now. Think especially
of the day before the dream) :

- "I have been thinking over all the time I spent there"

---------
THE DREAM - I am saying to my granddad "what about this one... and
what about that one". Then the seen switches and I am in bed sleeping.
THE REALITY The dreamer had some choices to make at school. At first he was
in a hurry to make a decision but then he realised there was no hurry and
it was best to work through the decision at a leisurely pace.
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer
- "I was going to rush into making a decision with my options. But now
I realise that its worth taking my time. There is no rush. I can sleep on
it and make a decision in the morning".
THE INTERPRETATION The dream mimicked the way the dreamer was thinking - should
he make "this choice" or should he make "that choice".
Grandfathers can often symbolise wisdom and experience. In some cases they
may symbolise time itself. Its the minds way of saying "take your time
over this decision". So here it could easily symbolise the need to take
some time to think through this decision.
The scene in bed where the dreamer is sleeping symbolised the simple need
to sleep on the decision. It was not vital to make it right there and then.
Symbolic
Meanings
BED : "a very personal decision - in this case which will affect the
dreamers life a great deal"
GRANDDAD : "taking your time - the dreamer realises that there is no rush
"
---------
THE DREAM - I am meeting my grandfather. The dream seems to contain
great meaning. There is an almost deep mystical feel to it.
THE REALITY The dreamer had been very unwell recently. On the day before the
dream this had especially hit him. He was truly feeling old.
DREAM MEANING The dream captures the following feeling within the dreamer
- "I really have been very unwell recently. I am starting to really know
what its like to feel old and unwell".
THE INTERPRETATION The one major factor in understanding a dream is to know
if a dream symbol has a literal or a symbolic meaning. In this sense does
the grandfather link to the dreamers own grandfather or to some symbolic meaning.
In this case the dreamer had no pressing issue involving his own grandfather
and had not been thinking about him. So its fair to assume that the meaning
is symbolic.
One symbolic meaning of grandfathers is that the dreamer feels old and unwell.
In this case this was a very accurate meaning. The dreamer truly did feel
unwell. His health had been especially bad leading up to the dream. So in
meeting his grandfather he was truly starting to understand how it was to
feel old. Indeed just like the dream he was coming face to face with such
feelings.
Symbolic
Meanings
GRANDDAD : "feeling old and unwell - the dreamer had been very sick recently
"
