From
Eric:
After HRA,
I attended the University of Virginia with
about half of our class so it was nice to see the faces about the
Grounds. I even roomed with Clay Edwards
during my fourth year! I graduated with a degree in Mathematics
(go figure!) with a minor in Physics (insane!) I also took a
fair amount of Astronomy and Anthropology, just a few courses short of
minors in these areas.
Since the Navy
ROTC paid for my college, they wanted my time in return. I spent 6
years in the Navy visiting a long list of countries in the Middle East,
Mediterranean, North Atlantic, and Central/South America. Mr.
Holt would be proud that I can identify all of the countries on a
map! After spending 8 months in the Desert Shield/Storm, I spent a
couple of more Naval years in Virginia Beach doing publication management
and contracting before leaving for the civilian world.
In 1993,
I moved to Omaha, Nebraska (?!) to work for the Dial
Corp, working in the facility that made those little bars of soap
that you find in the hotels (Sweetheart, Dial, Tone, ...). While
Omaha is really as dull as it sounds (except for the steaks), I was
fortunate to meet my wife, Sarah.
After a couple of years (1995),
I moved to Toledo, Ohio (?!) to work for ConAgra Foods in the Orville
Redenbacher/Swiss Miss Foods Division at the Hunt's Snack Pack
plant. While pudding is a great treat every once in a while, I no
longer desire even one drop after having to taste test every day for 5
years. Despite great personal growth and advancement, ConAgra was a
rough five years under a company known as the "evil empire" of
the food industry (the lay-off kings). After working as a regional
project manager at the Swiss Miss, Slim Jim, Snack Pack, Orville, and
other snack plants, I decided that 95% travel did not suit me much.
From
last Halloween, Sarah and her husband who forgot to shave.

In 2000, I landed a job in Richmond, VA
with Infineon Technologies,
a German semiconductor firm. It's an incredible company (I've
been around!) with the best of everything for its employees.
Right now, I am working as a Capacity/Capital Planner and doing very
interesting work with all aspects of the company. Since the
semiconductor industry is always changing, it is a challenge and a
constant learning experience.
Sarah and I live in
Mechanicsville, NE of Richmond, with no kids but two perfect Siamese
cats, Jake & Elwood. In my spare time, I have been
landscaping our new home so Spring has been a busy time for
me. My main hobby is collecting old stock and bond
certificates. I also sell them at my website, www.oldstocks.com
