LA 182 straight shot into Raceland |
Yes, it's the heart of winter. Yes, it IS cold. And, yes, there are flowers in bloom in south Louisiana. In the background bagass mounds surround Raceland Raw Sugars. Bagass is the byproduct of cane processing. During the summer the mounds would reek of a sour-sweet aroma. Right now they stand as testiments to the year's crop of cane. |
LA 182 North... clearly the numbering protocols used in most places don't apply here. For, although the terrain is amazingly flat, the highways curve and twist around bodies of water and swampland. 182 continues US 90 West's progress into Raceland, while the modern four-lane bypasses the town and crosses LA 1 a few miles south. |
