THESE THINGS I BELIEVE

    THE SPIRITUAL GIANTS:

    ATONEMENT

    ADOPTION

AND WITH JESUS IN THE HOUSE.

    MAN OF MANY MISSIONS.

    INDEPENDENT BAPTIST DOCTRINE:

FAITH: IN SEARCH OF THE TRUTH.

    THE SPIRITUAL GIANTS:

    How Did They Become Giants

When he was numbered among the unredeemed, and finally realized that he was lost and without hope he turned to Christ and ask forgiveness for his sins, then asks Jesus to come into his heart, and be the master of his soul.

    Jesus Said:
    Matthew 11/28

28.Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

The above verse should not be miss understood.Jesus was not saying that everything would go just as we would like and that heartbreak, sorrow, disappointment sickness and rejection would never come.He promised that He would give us rest,That is to say from our burden of sin.

    Jesus said:
    Mark 10/21
21.Then Jesus beholding him loved him,and said unto him,one thing thou lackest:go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shall have teasure in heaven:an come, take up the cross, and follow me.

So We find in the above verse that there are things that are expected of us.plus we are to take up the cross and follow Jesus.Have we ever thought about what that might really mean.Ofcourse that means we are to walk in the foot steps of Jesus where ever they lead.So shall we follow the foot steps of Jesus through a few of His problems during His earthly ministry.

Before we trace a few of the things that happened to Jesus, let us look and see where Jesus was before He came.He was in a place of peace, joy and contentment without a care or worry. And just to think He knew if He came all the following would happen. But He came anyhow.

    Matthew 2/13
13.And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, arise, and take the young Child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word:For Herod will seek the young Child to destroy Him.

Yes when Jesus was just hours old Herod the king hated Him and wanted to kill Him.

    Matthew 13/55 thru 57
55.Is not this the carpenter's Son? is not His mother called Mary? and His brethren,James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas.
56.And they were offended in Him.But Jesus said unto them,A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

Yes Jesus was rejected by His own countrymen and in His own house.

    Mark 14/10
10.And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests,to betray Him to them.

    Mark 14/44 & 45
44.And he that betrayed Him had given them a token saying, whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is He; take Him,and lead Him away safely.
45.And as soon as He was come,he goeth striaghtway to Him,and saith,Master,Master;and kissed Him.

As we all know Judas Iscariot did in fact betray Jesus, and betrayed Him with a kiss.A kiss was and still is a sign of love and affection.Sure he was one of the twelve.

    Matthew 26/69 thru 74
69.Now Peter sat without in the palace:and a damsel came unto him, saying, thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.
70.But he denied before them all, saying,I know not what thou sayest.
71.And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him,and said unto them that were there,This fellow was also with Jesus of Nazareth
72.And again he denied with an oath,I do not know the man.
73.And after a while came unto him they that stood by,and said to Peter,Surely thou also art one of them;for thy speech bewrayeth thee.
74.Then began he to curse and to swear, saying,I know not the man,And immediately the cock crew.

Here we find that even Peter one of the twelve denied Jesus,Yes Peter denied Jesus.three times and even denied Jesus with an oath.

    Matthew 26/56
56.But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. That all the disciples forsook Him,and fled.

Just think how discourage that Jesus felt after Judas Iscariot betrayed Him,and Peter denied Him.And now the other diciples forsook Him and fled. Now think just how discouraged we would be with all this if it happened to us.

    Matthew 26/57
57.And they that had laid hold on Jesus led Him away to Cai'a-phas the high priest where the scribes and the elders were assembled.

    Matthew 26/59
59.Now the chief priest, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus.to put Him to death.

In the above two verses we find that the religious leaders had turned their backs on Jesus and sought His death.

    Luke 23/13 thru 15
13.And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and rulers and the people,
14.Said unto them,ye have brought this man unto me,as one that perverteth the people:and, behold,I,having examined Him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse Him.
15.No,nor yet Herod:for I sent you to him;and,lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto Him.

    Luke 23/23 & 24
23.And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that He might be crucified, and the voices of them and of the chief priest prevailed.
24.And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

In the above verses we find that Pilate sentenced Jesus to death knowing all the time that He was innocent.

    Matthew 27/27 thru 31
27.The soldiers of the Governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
28.And they stripped Him,and put on Him a scarlet robe.
29.And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand:and they bowed the knee before Him,and mocked Him,saying, Hail,King of the Jews!
30.And they spit upon Him,and took the reed, and smote Him on the head.
31.And after they had mocked Him,They took the robe off from Him,and put His own raiment on Him,and led Him away to crucify Him.

Oh yes the governors soldiers seemed to enjoy the torturing of Jesus. The above verses is only a small part of the torture, cruelty, torment, and persecution that those soldiers had done to Christ.

We could just keep on and on with this list,However I think we have plenty above to prove the amount of pain, both physical and mental.I feel we all can easily realize that Jesus's life and ministry on earth was no bed of roses.

So if we are to walk in the foot steps of Our Lord Jesus Christ we can not expect a bed of roses either. So let us remember what Jesus said to the rich young ruler:

    Jesus Said
    Mark10/21
21.Then Jesus beholding him loved him,and said unto him.One thing thou lackest:go thy way, sell whatsoever thy hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

So we find we are not promised a bed of roses.suppose we look at a few Christians that all of us know of and the hardships, sufferings that some of them went through to become Spiritual Giants. We all know great list of Christian that have had storms of life, and become Spiritual Giants. The following is just a short list of the things that the Spiritual Giants have in common.

1.Every one is a person of the Bible.
2.Then they are persons of Prayer.
3.They all take the promises of Jesus seriously, such as the following and much more:

    Jesus Said:
    John 11/25 & 26
25.Jesus said unto her:I am the resurrection and the life:he that believeth in me,though he were dead, yet shall he live.
26.And whosoever liveth and beliveth in Me shall never die,Believeth thou this?

    Romans 5/3 thru 5
3,And not only so,but we glory in trubulations also:knowing that tribulation worketh patience.
    4.And patience,experience;and experience,hope:
5.And hope maketh not ashamed;because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

    Jesus Said
    John16/33
33.These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peacee. In the world ye shall have tribulation:but be of good cheer;I have overcome the world.

Faith is the key word in obtaining salvation,And faith is the key word in the joy of our christian life.If we simply trust the lord and his word. The following is just a few of the promiises He made to add to our joy,and strengthens our faith.

    Hebrews 10/23
    23. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering;for he is faithful that promised.

    1 Peter 3/14
14,But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of,knowing of whom thou hast learned them.

    1 Peter 4/12 & 13
12.Beloved,think not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you,as though some strange thing happened unto you.
13.But rejoice insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings;that when His glory shall be revealed,ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

Yes I feel sure that most all Spiritual Giants have used at the least most of the above verses and no doubt many-many more such verses like them and there is a great number here in the Bible. Then of course did the following things:
    1.Studied and learned God's word.
2.Without fail all became people of prayer.
    3.Growed greatly in the faith.
4.And without fail all Spiritual Giants, took great pains to walk in the foot steps of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ every day, every where!!

I feel safe in saying that we all have the same Saviour, and an invitation from the Lord Jesus Christ as any of the Spiritual Giants of today and of the past to become Spiritual Giants.Yes we have the same Lord and Saviour and the same invitation:

Just what we do with this invitation is simply up to us individual

THE CHOICE IS TRULY YOUR'S AND MINE!!

    ATONEMENT

When useing a word that I am not sure about the full meanings,I go to the following Dictionaries:

    Webster's New World Dictionary
    Of the American Language
    Second College Wdition
    And
    Davis Biblical Dictionary.

    ATONEMENT:
    1.The act of Atoning.
    2.Satisfaction given for wrong doing,injury,etc; amends,expiations.
3.The effects of Jesus's sufferings and death in redeeming mankind and bringing about the reconciliation of God to man.
    4.Agreement or reconciliation.

Atonement was achieved by the animal sacrifices under the old covemant.

    Exodus 29/36
36.And thou shalt offer every day a bullock for a sin offering for atonement: And thou shalt cleanse the altar, when thou hast made an atonement for it,and thou shalt anoint it,to sanctify.

    Leviticus 6/6 & 7
6.And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the Lord,A ram without blimish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest:
7.And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the lord:And it shall be forgiven him for anything of all that he hath done in trespassing therein.

The love, compassion, and grace that brought the atonement under the New Covenant is completly beyond human understanding, our minds are inncapable of understanding the great of love.

    Titus 2/11 thru 14
11.For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men.

The atonement that came through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ was ordained by God Himself before the foundation of the world.

    Ephesians 1/4 thru 7
4 According as He hast chosen us in Him before the foundation of the world, That we should be holy and without blame before Him in love:

6.To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Because Jesus died,we have salvation through His blood.

    Hebrews13/12
12.Wherefore Jesus also, that He might sanctify the people with His own blood, suffered without the gate.

    ATONEMENT IS ETERNAL:
