NamaskAr, I am Harshal Baviskar.

Introduction:

I am from a small town of Maharashtra, called . There is great coincidence in my name and name of my town. That relates to numbers. My surname is Baviskar of which bavis means 22 and my town's name is Chalisgaon of which chalis means 40.

About my town. My town is typical Indian town whith great development potential. About that I will talk later. It is basically devided in two parts called juna (old) town and nava(new) town by a river Dongri. The name dongri comes from dongar (which means mountain). I live in old part of (for town).

Transportation:

Chalisgaon is well connected to other cities by Rail Way and State HighWay. Big cities like Mumbai (which till recently was called Bombay) and pune are within 7 hours by train from Chalisgaon. It is placed at the centriod of four major towns of Jalgaon, Nashik, Aurangabad and Dhule of which first three are identified as fastest booming areas by IndiaToday. Moreover power and water are quite regularly available here. Being a big Railway Jn, almost all trains take stoppage at Chalisgaon.

Position:

Geographically Chalisgaon is in Jalgaon District of Maharashtra, with Taluka status. It is surrounded by Dhule Dist & Parola tal in North, Nashik dist in west, Aurangabad ( SambhajiNagar) dist in south, and Pachora & Bhadagaon talukas of Jalgaon dist. Chalisgaon is on the sangam of two rivers Dongri & Tittur. These rivers flow further to meet Girna. Girna meets to Tapti which ends in Arebian Sea.

Tourism:

To the south of Chalisgaon, there are Ajanta mountain ranges. As shown in the map above, Ajanta and Ellora, major tourist attractions, are quite near to Chalisgaon. The lesser known place is Patnadevi and caves near it. Patnadevi Mandir (Temple) is of Hemadpanti type. The caves which are in jungle of Patnadevi is a place to visit. In winter the place is just fabulous with greenery around it on the mountains and as long as you can see. Another place is Ellora and you must be knowing about it.

Industrialization:

Chalisgaon has one cotton mill which is one of the few mills run with profit (as per information of my friend). Belganga Co-operative Suger Factory is situated in Chalisgain Taluka. on Coopertive basis. Khahndesh Oil mill is another big firm. Apart from these there are several small scale and domestic industries. Notable of these is Dairy Industry which at its peak was supplying huge ammount of milk in cities espcially Mumbai. With one MIDC area allocated to Chalisgaon, Industrial sector is expected to boom in this area. So there is one Industrial Training Institute too. The new evolving industry is software industry. In last two years, there have been tremendous awareness regarding computers in our area. Big players like ApTech have opened a training center here. With new MIDC area allocated here this will boost the industrial output from Chalisgaon.

Agriculture:

Agriculture is the main source of income in surrounding area of Chalisgaon. Sugarcane, Cotton, and Banana are the prominent cash crops. Groundnuts is another important product. Jwari and Bajri are also cultivated among cereals along with Gahu. People have to mainly depend on monsoon water for this. This year monsoon was late and worst hit the crops.
