Lights of Life

Slowly, slowly, ever so slowly

The lights of life

Begin to reappear into my life.

Through the gray skies and black clouds,

If I look very closely,

There is a very small ray of sunshine beginning to peek.

Today I thought I saw your smile

And heard your laughter

As the wind whispered in the trees

And the flowers swayed playfully in the breeze.

My ears listen for your name

And in hearing it I feel a sorrow.

But there is also a joy that no longer

Is there a surging river of tears mixed with your memory.

Each moment that passes is kinder

To each of us left here without you.

We know there are many more long days

And still more tears to come.

But as the lights of our lives begin to flicker,

We know that you are smiling

And loving us.

There is a healing finally beginning

And you will be at peace when

We are sad no longer,

But filled with joy at having loved and been loved by you.
