Dedication To
An Angel
In Memory of Our Grandaughter
Skylar Ann Marguerite
It broke our hearts to lose you
but you did not go alone.
A part of us went with you
the day God took you home.
A million times we've needed you,
A million times we've cried
If love could have saved you,
You never would have died.
To the grave we travel,
the flowers placed with care.
But no one knows the heartache
As we turn and leave you there.
No farewells were spoken,
No time to say goodbye,
You were gone before we knew it
And only God knows why.
If tears could build a staircase
And heartaches make a lane.
We could walk a path to heaven
And bring you home again.
This poem with Jesus in the background arms outstretched and framed was given to my daughter by a friend after her baby was delivered full term and stillborn.
The day of the funeral the kids asked if I would stay with Skylar so they could go be alone for a short time before the service. They didn't want her to be alone - she was a baby after all. They were concerned about her being alone in the graveyard too. And you know I felt the same way. So many different feelings when it's a child.
As it ended up we were able to put her right next to her other Grandma & Grandpa. Amazingly enough their headstones said "Gampa & Gamma." We could leave her now knowing she was next to her family everyday.
I guess this was the deciding factor in placing my award from Angel. This little angel gives our baby some company on her page. Maybe that sounds silly to some but like I said everything is completely different when you lose a child.
