So far we have only traced back to our great grandfather (Julius August WINTER ), born in Brisbane, Aust. in 1878. We have details of his career in the sugar cane industry, member of canegrower commitee, and wealth. We also have his family history; 3 sons. One of which is my father. Bryan G Winter. The next step is where it would get difficult. Apparently his parent(s) came over from somewere believed to be from Swiss decent, but there is no obvious or easily recognisable comparisons to the Swiss looks ?? Never the less we shall endeavour to keep up with this adventure and will pass on any info we can to assist anyone else.
I am researching my 4x greatgrandmother Carola Winter (born 1790, died 17 Nov 1876) who married the teacher Gregori Lenhardt (born 1788, died 17 Mar 1837 in Wingen/Moder, Alsace) on 18 Oct 1808 inWingen. Also another 4x gtgdmother Sophiae Winter, who married Arnoldi Lenhardt, probably also in Wingen. The Lenhardt children of these 2 couples married in Wingen in 1833.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
My name is Lowell Davison Fair, Jr., a descendent of George and Mary Jane (Show) Fair. George was born in 1819 in Maryland, and Mary Jane born in 1829 in Pennsylvania. They were married in Pennsylvania, had 11 children, and settled in what is now McCool Junction, NE in 1871. A page in the "The History of Nebraska", published in 1882 by Andreas described their pioneer settlement in Nebraska.
The affore mentioned article states that George's parents were John Fair and Ann M Winter and were of German decent. George's Bible has an entry which states that John was from Pennsylvania and Ann M Winter was from Maryland. If anyone has information about Ann M Winter, born about 1795 + or - 5 years,
I would dearly like to know. My brother and I have most all of George & Mary Jane Fair's (and thus Ann Winter's) descendants to offer to anyone seriously interested (no charge).

My Winter line starts in Union Co., Mississippi with Mildred Theodocia Winter born Sept. 22, 1922. Her mother was Myrtle Lee Kelley born in Bolivar Tennessee in 1904. Some say her father was Doc Winter, maybe Doctry or Dottery. Myrtie divorced Winter about 1927 and their three children were put in an orphanage in Mississippi. Willie, just a baby, and Mary two, were adopted maybe by the Shefields ?. Mildred, five, hid in her grandmother's car and went to live on the reservation with her Grandmother Theo Miller. Mildred said once that she looked her father up once and I suppose she found him still living in Mississippi. She moved to Texas with her Grandma Miller and mother who had remarried to a Mr. Theo Harris back in 1927.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

WINTER> Schildesche, Germany> New Orleans> St.Louis> Centralia,IL,> St. Louis> Bates
Co., MO.Johann Hermann Winter (b. 1797 Schildesche,Germany) and his wife Anne Ilsebein Meyer had four sons and three daughters. The oldest son, (Johann) Friedrich Wilhelm Winter (b. 21 Sept 1831) left Germany in 1852 and came to St. Louis via New Oleans. His parents and siblings came a year later in 1853. The parents and three of the children did not make it to St. Louis and perhaps died on the way. An old letter says they died in Warrington--where is that? We have checked Warrenton, MO. with no luck. We also think the town may be Washington but so far no evidence. Is there a Warrington somewhere on the Mississippi River? We would like to find where they died and where they are buried. We know about the rest of the family. We would be happy to correspond with and share information with other branches of this Winter family.
Thank you!

I am looking for information on a John WINTER born 03 MAR 1825 in ??-Saben, Hesse-Darmstadt and died 18 JAN 1891 in Pgh., PA. He immigrated in 1851 at 26 and in 1854 married (in Pgh., PA):
Anna Marea Schaffer, born 1828 in Rinderburgen, Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany and died in 1894 in Pgh., PA. Her mother was born and died in Ober-Semen, as did her father who was a Sheep Stockman. I am hoping someone in Pgh. will have some information as to where they are buried. We think they are either at St. Paul's or SouthSide Cemetery in Pgh.
These are their children: Henry (my gt.grandfather) (1856-1926); John (b.1861); Henrietta - b.1858; Mary Winter Steineke (b.1863); Charles (b.1866); William - (b.1870)
It would be great to connect with other Winters in the Pittsburgh area. I already have contact with my mother's cousin, John Henry Winter, in Pgh.
Thanks!

I have know for several years that my 4th great grandmother was Nancy Winter married to Jacob Peasley. Two branches said we could trace our roots to the Mayflower. I had what I thought to be enough proof, well I am wrong. I need direct proof of Nancy's parents. So this is what I had to work with.
