Genealogy Of Abraham Potter Family

Dedicated To Our Grandmother

Letha Mae Potter

January 8, 1893 - November 5, 1962
Our grandmother lived in a two room log cabin on a moutaintop in Eastern KY in an area called the Potterflats. These mountains she loved and knew so well had been the home of her great-grandparents, grandparents, parents as well as her home. She had no electricity, no running water and the walk to her cabin was long and difficult for a child. The joy, sense of peace and belonging that you found there is something that I have never again enjoyed. My grandmother died when I was twelve years old, but I still feel her, she is loved and missed. Family is what matters and is important. In these pages you will find her family, the family she loved.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on the snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight,
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.
