Indiana Searching has moved to a new home! Please update your links.
Sorry but I have been too swamped lately and I
have found a wonderful person to take over for me! She will be
able to do what I was doing! I will still help all I can, but
have just been to busy to keep up, and that was unfair to you all
searching!
The basic Steps you should do first in Searching for Family in Indiana.
1. Contant Mary Hinds and request forms to register with the Indiana Adoption History program. You should get two forms. One pink and one blue. They are free, and all it takes is a phone call. (317) 233-7253.
2. Register with the Internations Soundex Reunion Registry.
3. IF you have a name, Do a genealogy search. I have helped serveral in doing this and have been quite successful.
4. If you know the agency who handled the adoption, ask them to do a search for you. This kind of search will have a fee of about $200.
5. Please don't pay any money to any individuals for any info. I racked up a bill myself and got no further then I was before. Most of the info you need can be gotten for free or for as little as nothing. Only buy info from the Libraries and Papers if they attach a fee to it. I have data bases as well as other people on the net willing to do it for free and when we can. : )
