Thomas Pugh.
The Thomas Pugh I stated was a SON to Francis Pugh- the Francis Pugh who married Pherebee Savage.  All my records show he,Thomas, married a Mary Scott.  He was born in 1726, (not 1755 as I had stated), died in 1804-5.  He had a son named Thomas who married Esther Taylor, and a nephew named Thomas Pugh (son of William Scott Pugh) who died in 1852, but he married Eliza Foley. There is yet another Thomas Pugh in this line (1805-1877) who married Frances Ann Gray. The above mentioned Francis had son, Theophilus who had a son named Thomas Whitmel Pugh(b.1755) who married Janett Bryan(aft 1777).  Beyond that I can't find any other Thomas Pughs. If and when you find a Thomas Pugh who married Hannah Norton, please let me know.  Martha, I have only run across one reference that says that Francis and Pherebee Pugh had a daugher named Pherebee, but that reference says that the daughter Pherebee married a Samuel Williams, not a John Williams.(This came from Marilu Burch Smallwood's "Some Colonial Families of North Carolina,VolII, p. 395). I have some scant info on the Bryans, as I grew up near "Snowfield" the family home that no longer exists.  I do have a friend who, a while back, documented the graves at the cemetery at Snowfield, and will mail that to you if you will send me your address. There is also a book "Ancestors and Descendents of General Robert Campbell Martin and his wife Mary Winifred Hill Pugh" that I have made a copy of some of the pages, documenting Bryans, Grays, Pughs, Martins, and their descendents in Louisiana if that is of interest to you.

My PUGH line is pretty difficult to tackle. My line is believed to have originated from Theophilus PEW/PUGH who had a child Hezekiah PEW/PUGH (birth between1799-1804 either VA or NC). - This Hezekiah PEW/PUGH (I do not find anywhere in WVA as of yet) married an ANN unknown surname (Birth between 1805-1808 unknown place)

They had several children:

Samuel Bowman b. 1825 Preston Wva (Married Elizabeth FORTNEY) - moved to Iowa eventually
Addison (cannot find)
Alfred (cannot find)
2 un-named pughs
Serena/Cyrena b. May 20 1830 (John Thomas KNOTTS) - stayed in Preston County WV thru death
John William b. June 8 1846/1848 (married Margaret PERKINS and Florence CHERRY both in Iowa) moved to Iowa at a young age

Hezekiah believed to have died in the 1840's. In 1850, I found Ann PEW with Serena, Addison, Alfred and John W. in Preston County and right next door was Samuel B with is wife Elizabeth. - Ann died shortly after the census. I know both Samuel B., John W. served in the Civil war and both resided in Iowa.

The youngest of Ann, John W., was raised by a Martin and Sarah KEYSER/KEISER/KISER of West Virgina. I found them in the 1860 Iowa census.

I have more on this family, but wanted to give this much for now and the deed. Hopefully I can shake a tree. I also have John W. civil war record and pension record. I am ordering a Henry Franklin (Samuel's oldest Son) - Samuel Bowman is the next one I plan to order, but not much history on John W. - He was too young when his family passed away.
