I decided to design this page for people who are interested in information about Camden, NY and some of the surrounding areas, such as Florence, NY.
"Welcome to Camden, New York! Settled in the late 1700s, the historic village of 2500 is situated on
the bank of Fish Creek nestled in the foothills of the Tug Hill plateau. In 1895 the Camden
Improvement raised $125 to build a wooden bandstand in the village park. The present
gazebo was built in 1940."
"Camden's original Town Hall was built of wood in 1838. The present brick building is at the northeast corner of the village park and was erected in 1894 at a cost of $10,666.13. Architect was Lew Smith. Builder was Thomas Smith. The former United Methodist Church, which was razed in 1970, relinquished its steeple currently seen atop the Town Hall."
"Camden Middle School, known as the Union School in 1856, is a historic landmark." When this building was first built, it housed all grade levels but now it is Camden's Middle school.
