Dennis Dunham was born about 1750 in New Jersey. He married Dorothy. Dennis died about 1821 in Allen County, Kentucky. He was of Irish descent and originally immigrated to New Jersey. Dennis was found in the Warren County, Kentucky Deed Books: On page 256 Skaggs, Jas. to Harmon Haner. Consideration $436. 61 2/3 acres on Drakes Creek surveyed for Dennis Dunham. Dated 30 March 1816. On page 489 Skaggs, Daniel to Dennis Donham, Sr. 91 acres beginning at John Williams to James Thompson's to William Wyatt's corner to Zachariah Morris' line. Wits: Isaiah Lewis, Dennis Donham. (1) John Dunham was born in Maryland about 1774. He died in 1834 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Polly (Mary) Hudspeth on October 1, 1799 in Warren County, Kentucky. Polly was born on 1784 in Sury County, North Carolina. Shed died after 1850 in Warren County, Kentucky. Her parents are Joseph Hudspeth and Agatha Hutchins. John and Polly had the following children: (A) Ira Dunham, (B) Elizabeth Dunham, (C) Jonathan Hutchens Dunham, (C) John Smith Dunham, (D) Dorothy Dunham, (E) Mahulda Dunham, (F) Agatha Dunham, (G) William Harrison Dunham, (H) Oliver P. (2) Timothy Dunham was born about 1775 and died about 1850. There is a Timothy Dunham listed as an Ensign in the Warren County Corn Stalk Militia 25th Regiment on July 19, 1806. He was granted 200 acres in Warren County, Kentucky. He was living in Lafayette County, Missouri in 1830. He married Mary Harris on October 18, 1802 in Warren County, Kentucky. They had the following children: (A) Sarah (Sally) Dunham, (B) Susan B. Dunham, (C) Dorothy (Dolly) Dunham, (D) Dennis Dunham, (E) James S. H. Dunham, (F) Eliza Ellen Dunham, (G) Jerusha Dunham
(3) Jonathon Dunham was born about 1781 possibly in Virginia. He died in his son John's home, in Lafayette County, Mississippi in 1858. He spells Dunham as Donham. He was a military soldier in War of 1812. He was a Justice of the Peace in Yalobusha County, Mississippi in 1841. He married Milbery Philips on October 1, 1799 in Warren County, Kentucky. She was born about 1788 in Richmond, Virginia. They had the following children: (A) Sallie Donham, (B) William J. Donham, (C) John Donham, (D) Polly Donham, (E) Charity Donham, (E) Zachariah Donham (F) Zachariah Donham, (G) James F. (4) Effie Dunham was born about 1782. She married Joseph Skaggs on August 1, 1802 in Warren County, Kentucky. The marriage was consented by Dennis Dunham and witnessed by Timothy Dunham and Zachariah Morris. Bond was posted by Daniel Skaggs. In the Warren County, Kentucky Deed Books, page 169, Skaggs, Joseph and Effie, his wife to Abraham Skaggs. Consideration $200. 100 acres of land next to John Spear and Joseph Hudspeth lines. Dated November 4, 1811. Joseph Skaggs died before 1850. Effie was living in Clay County, Missouri with her son Jonathan D. Skaggs. Joseph and Effie had the following children: (A) Johnathan D. Skaggs, (B) Stephen Skaggs, (C) James M. Skaggs, (D) Daniel W. Skaggs, (E) David S. Skaggs, (F) Dorah Skaggs, (G) Effie Skaggs, (H) Irene (Jane) Skaggs.
(5) Hannah Dunham was born about 1783. She married David Skaggs on May 27, 1801 in Warren County, Kentucky. Dennis Dunham gave consent for this marriage in Warren County, Kentucky. A Timothy Dunham was listed in the same record for security bond. David was born about 1780. In the Warren County, Kentucky Deed Books, page 352, Skaggs, Daniel and wife, Hannah to Hezekiah Holland. Consideration $666. Land on Drakes Creek beginning at Aaron's Earnest's corner, to David Hudspeth's line, to James Skagg's line to Zachariah Morris corner on William Morris line. Dated May 2, 1814. They had the following children: (A) Levi Skaggs, (B) Eli Skaggs, (C) Daniel Skaggs, (D) Dennis Skaggs, (E) Joseph Skaggs, (F) Emaline Skaggs, (G) Malinda Skaggs, (H) Greenberry Skaggs. Hannah married a second time to Thomas Satterfield.
(6)Phebe Dunham was born about 1787. She was married twice. Her first husband was William Higgins on May 5, 1807 in Warren County, Kentucky. Her father Dennis gave consent. The marriage was witnessed by Daniel Skaggs. Mastin Edmon gave Security Bond. He was born on May 25, 1787 in Warren County, Kentucky. They had the following children: (A) Dorothy Higgins and (B) another unknown. Her second marriage was with Thomas Barnett on June 22, 1812.
They had two children: (A) George Harrison Barnett and (B) Dennis Dunham Barnett.
(7) Dorothy Dunham was born on September 11, 1789 in Maryland. She died on June 18, 1870 in Warren County, Kentucky. She married James Skaggs on July 27, 1811 in Warren County, Kentucky. He was born on August 5, 1789 in Warren County, Kentucky. In the Warren County, Kentucky Deed Books on page 239, Skaggs, James, Jr. and wife, Dorothy, to Joseph Skaggs. Consideration $1. 50 acres beginning at Drakes Creek to Aaron Earnest's line. Witness: Richard R. Pace, James X Skaggs and Dorotha X Morris. Dated October 30, 1813. He died on September 27, 1861. James parents are: James and Susannah Skaggs. Dorothy and James had the following children: (A) Hannah H. Skaggs, (B) Mary Effy Skaggs, (C) Ewign Jackson Skaggs, (D) Susannah M. Skaggs, (E) Sarah J. Skaggs.
(8) Dennis Dunham was born about 1791 and died after 1840 in Arkansas. He married Dolly Hudspeth on February 6, 1815 in Warren County, Kentucky.
(A) Ira Dunham was born in Warren County, Kentucky the year 1802. He died after 1870 in Henry County, Missouri. He was a trucker and a farmer. He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Evans in 1826 in Warren County, Kentucky. Her parents are Abner Evans and Rachel Murphy. In the fall of 1846 he moved his family to Polk County, Missouri then in the fall of 1848, he moved to Johnson County, Missouri. He was living with his son Winfield Scott Dunham in 1870 of Henry County, Missouri. Ira was sworn in for the Warren County, Kentucky Grand Jury in 1829 and also served as a juror in the Warren County, Kentucky Circuit Court in 1833. In 1852, the Warren County, Kentucky Court ordered that the money be collected from the sale of the land of John Dunham (his father), with Mary Dunham (his mother) as widow receiving 1/3 and the remaining heirs to receive 2/3. Ira is mentioned as a heir and received 1/11. Ira and Elizabeth had the following children: (1) John A. Dunham, (2) Ira W. Dunham, (3) Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Dunham, (4) Armstead Jasper Dunham, (5) Joseph H. Dunham, (6) Levi P. Dunham, (8) William V. Dunham, (9) Mary J. Dunham, (10) Winfield Scott Dunham.
(B) Elizabeth Dunham was born about 1803 in Warren County, Kentucky. She married John Wolf on April 30, 1823 in Warren County, Kentucky. He was born about 1800 place was unkown. He died about 1830 in Allen County, Kentucky. They had the following children together: 1. Mary (Polly) Wolf born about 1824, 2. Margaret Wolf born 1826, 3. Adaline R. Wolf born about 1828.
(C) Jonathan Hutchens Dunham was born in 1807 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married twice. His first wife was Isabella M. Harris they were married on January 29, 1827 in Warren County, Kentucky. She died about 1865. Her father was John M. Harris. Jonathan sold his first land in Henry County, Missouri in Book d, page 230 during 1833/36. He died before September 1871. They had the following children together: 1. John O. Dunham, 2. Martha J. Dunham, 3. Sarah E. Dunham, 4. William J. Dunham, 5. Frances G. Dunham, 6. Benjamin F. Donham, 7. Jonathan H. Dunham, 8. Louis A. Dumham
Jonathan's second marriage was to Julia A. Dodson on July 8, 1867 in Henry County, Missouri. She was born in 1868. They had one child named Ulisses S. G. Dunham born in 1868.
(D) John Smith Dunham born on September 13, 1809 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Susan Ann Skaggs on January 28, 1839 in Warren County, Kentucky. She was born on July 26, 1819. Her parents are Abrahm M. Skaggs and Rhoda Bowe Smith. She died on July 6, 1888 in Warren County, Kentucky. John died on July 6, 1888 in Warren County, Kentucky. He is buried in the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Warren County, Kentucky. They had the following children: 1. William Harrison Dunham, 2. Eliza Mary Jane Dunham, 3. Eugene Underwood Dunham, 4. Infant, 5. Kizah S. Dunham, 6. Virginia Catherine Dunham, 7. Ewing M. Dunham.
(E) Dorothy Dunham was born in 1812. She married a Mr. Ellison about 1830.
(F) Mahulda Dunham was born in 1813 in Warren County, Kentucky. She died before 1886. She never married.
(G) Agatha Dunham was born about 1814 in Warren County, Kentucky. She was married three times. She married William Hudspeth on July 26, 1838 in Henry County, Missouri. He was the son of John Jackson Hudspeth and Nancy Jackson. They were first cousins and had two children: William Hudspeth and John Hutchins Hudspeth born on December 2, 1838 in Surry, North Carolina. Agatha's second marriage was to Mr. Hancock. Her third marriage was to Hugh Morgan who died in Oklahoma.
(H) William Harrison Dunham was born about 1816 in Warren County, Kentucky. He is buried at the Old Union Baptist Church Cemetery in Warren County, Kentucky.
(I) Oliver P. Dunham was born about 1818 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Nacissa Thomas on April 23, 1843 in Warren County, Kentucky. Narcissa was born about 1820. Her parents are Jeremai Thomas and Francis her last name is not known. Oliver and Nacissa had a child named Lamuel P. Dunham born about 1846 in Warren County, Kentucky.
(J) Mary Ann Dunham was born in 1823 in Warren County, Kentucky.
(K) Strangeman Stanley Dunham was born on June 19, 1825 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Willie J. Wright on October 9, 1862 in Warren County, Kentucky. Her parents were Washington Wright and Louisa Willoughby. Willie was born on November 18, 1836 in Allen County, Kentucky. She died on November 25, 1899 in Allen County, Kentucky and is buried in Hamrony Church Cemetery of Allen County, Kentucky. Strangeman live in Warren County Kentucky, until 1866 when he moved his family to Allen County, Kentucky. In 1861 he enlisted in Company D 52nd Kentucky Mounted Infantry. He was a member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church and in politics he was a Democrat. He died on November 19, 1888 and is buried in Hamrony Church Cemetery of Allen County, Kentucky. They had the following children: 1. Thomas P. Dunham, 2. Mary R. (Polly) Dunham, 3. Virginia E. (Jennie) Dunham, 4. Elizabeth Porter Dunham, 5. Agnes Dorothy (Dolly) Dunham, 6. Josephine (Josie) Dunham, 7. Johnnie M. Dunham, 8. (1) John A. Dunham was born in 1827 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Mary A. Douglas on October 25, 1849 in Johnson County, Missouri. She was born in 1825 in Missouri. They had the following children: (a) Mary G. Dunham born in 1851 in Missouri, (b) Kandaza Dunham born in 1855 in Missouri, (c) James I. Dunham born in 1857 in Henry County, Missouri, (d) John J. Dunham born on 1859 in Henry County Missouri.
(2) Ira W. Dunham was born in 1828 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Mary F. Hampton on March 3, 1853 in Henry County, Missouri. They had the following children: (a) Eliza J. Dunham born in 1861 in Big Creek, Henry County, Missouri. She died in 1945 in Big Creek, Henry County, Missouri, (b) Virinia Alice Dunham born in 1857,
(c) Mary E. Dunham was born on 1855 in Henry County, Missouri and died on April 30, 1860 in Henry County, Missouri, (d) Oscar O. Dunham, (e) Fanny C. Dunham, (f) Nancy K. Dunham, (g) Lucy A. Dunham, (h) Ida B. Dunham.
(3) Elizabeth Ann (Betsy) Dunham was born about 1830 in Warren County, Kentucky. She married Hezekiah Brown on December 22, 1849 in Johnson County, Missouri.
(4) Armstead Jasper Dunham was born in Warren County, Kentucky on January 3, 1831. He died in Jasper County, Johnson County, Missouri. His opportunities for an education were limited. In the summer of 1847 he was hired out and received twenty dollars for four monts service. At another time he hired to a farmer in Henry County, Missouri for 106 days to make rails and received fifty cents per day for his labor. After that he worked on a farm during the summer from eight to ten dollars per month, and in the winter season he would go to Fayette County and engage in breaking hemp. About the year 1860 he began business for himself, and in the fall of 1861 he bought 100 head of cattle, drove them to Jefferson City and sold them to the agent for the government. In the fall of 1862 and 1863 he bought and furnished Salmon & Owens, of Clinton, about 3,000 head of hogs. He has been an extensive buyer and shipper ever since, shipping more hogs than any other man in western Missouri. He has also been engaged in the buying and feeding of cattle. These cattle he generally shipped to the eastern market. He owns a fine farm of 600 acres in Johnson County, Missouri and 300 acres in Henry County, Missouri. Armstead and his brother Scott, were interested in silver mines in Bates County. The history of Armstead Dunham's life shows us that he began his life without a dollar, and ended up as a influential business man. He married Julia Ann Genoway in Big Creek, Henry County, Missouri on April 10, 1851. She was born on June 1834 in Brown County, Ohio. Her parents were Peter F. Genoways and Charlotte Stanley. Armstead and Julia had the following children: (a) Theodore Stanley Dunham, (c) Ira Peter Dunham, (d) Elizabeth S. Dunham, (e) Perry O. Dunham, (f) Sarreptia A. Dunham, (g) Irene E. Dunham, (h) Mary Lenz Dunham, (i) Ida M. Dunham, (j) Winfield W. Dunham.
(5) Joseph H. Dunham was born in 1834 in Warren County, Kentucky. He died about 1865 in Henry County, Missouri. He married Fannie Jane Jones on March 3, 1853 in Henry County, Missouri. They had the following children: (a) Edgar J. Dunham born on October 1855 and (b) Robert Dunham born on 1860 in Henry County, Missouri.
(6) Levi P. Dunham was born on 1836 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Irena Brooks on August 19, 1860 in Johnson County, Missouri.
(7) James S. Dunham was born in February of 1839 in Warren County, Kentucky. He married Ermine Adaliade Graham on October 21, 1860 in Henry County, Missouri. She was born in November of 1838 in Kentucky. They had the following children: (a) Johnson W. Dunham born in 1866 in Missouri, (b) Isabel Dunham born in 1867 in Missouri, (c) Walter Dunham born in 1870 in Missouri, (d) Cora E. Dunham born in 1876 in Missouri.
(8) William V. Dunham was born about 1842 in Warren County, Kentucky.
(9) Mary J. Dunham was born about 1845 in Warren County, Kentucky.
(10) Winfield Scott Dunham was born on April 26 1848 in Missouri. He died on November 20, 1917. He was the Republican sheriff of Johnson County, Missouri in 1895. He married Adelia Victoria O. Gillespie on July 4, 1870 in Henry County, Missouri. She was born on August 1, 1855 and died on October 26, 1935. They had the following children: (a) Marion Oscar Dunham born on June 21, 1871 in Henry County, Missouri and died on December 22, 1873 in Henry County, Missouri, (b) Francis Elizabeth Dunham born on January 25, 1873 in Henry County, Missouri. Died on December 4, 1903. She married a James A. House, (c) Oliver Cromwell Dunham born on September 26, 1876 in Henry County, Missouri and died on July 29, 1948. He married Margaret E. Ogden on September 2, 1908 in Johnson County, Missouri, (d) Joseph Owen Dunham born on November 10, 1878 in Henry County, Missouri and died on April 25, 1935, (e) Annie Gertrude Dunham born on June 9, 1882 in Henry County, Missouri and died on November 10, 1882 in Henry County, Missouri, (f) Charles Carter Dunham was born on May 6, 1886 in Johnson County, Missouri and died on June 3, 1942 in Kansas. He died of lung cancer. Wife is unkown. He had two boys: (1) Charles (Jim) Dunham wife is unknown and has these daughters: Chantelle Lee Dunham and Patricia Dunham. Patricia married Brent Hamilton and has a daughter named Tiffany Dunham Hamilton, (2) Don Dunham was married to Hazel Mae Misener and they have a daughter named Kelly Dawn Dunham. (g) Richard Bertholdt Dunham was born on May 25, 1889 in Henry County, Missouri. He died on January 6, 1953, (h) Dora Marie (Dodie) Dunham was born on May 24, 1892 in Henry County, Missouri and died on March 25, 1971, (i) Thomas Reed Dunham was born on September 7, 1894 in Johnson County, Missouri and died on November 17, 1976, (j) Flavel Dunham was born on September 18, 1897 and died on September 18, 1897.
(a) Jasper Eugene Dunham was born on April 9, 1853 in Big Creek, Henry County, Missouri. He married twice. His first wife was Annis Normandy Thompson and his second wife was Mary D. Lane. Jasper and Mary were married on Marcy 17, 1878 in Henry County, Missouri. Jasper and Mary had the following children: (1a)Lena F. Dunham and (2a) Charlie L. Dunham.
(b) Theodore Stanley Dunham was born on March 24, 1855 in Bogard, Henry County, Missouri. He died on July 18, 1934 in Holden, Johnson County, Missouri. He spent his last 35 years in Holden, Missouri. He was called "Ted" and was one of the old-time auctioneers and often made the boast at the peak of his activity that he had more sales than any other auctioneer in this section. In the early days of Holden Stock Show he was always the general announcer. He was a republican. He was also a veterinarian. He married Annie Laurie Foster on July 4, 1875 in Holden, Missouri. She was born on June 10, 1860 in Warrnesburg, Missouri and died on November 19, 1931 in Holden, Missouri. Her parents were Marshal McCord Foster and Eliza J. Patrick. Annie was at the age of 14 when she joined the Methodist Church. She was a hard working woman, wrapped up in her children on whom strove to do her duty as best as she could. Theodore and Annie had the following children: (1a) Joseph H. Dunham, (2a) Georgie A. Dunham, (3a) Theodore Gruver Dunham, (4a) Maggie B. Dunham, (5a) Lula G. Dunham, (6a)Warrin W. Dunham, and (7a) Diel Ray Dunham.
(c) Ira Peter Dunham was born on November 1, 1856 in Big Creek, Henry County, Missouri and died on August 23, 1857 in Big Creek, Henry County, Missouri.
(d) Elizabeth S. Dunham was born on 1859 in Henry County, Missouri. She married W.E. Brown on September 2, 1877 in Johnson County, Missouri.
(e) Perry O. Dunham was born on 1860 in Henry County, Missouri. He married Maggie V. Scott on February 21, 1883 in Johnson County, Missouri. Her parents are John Scott and Jennie. Maggie was born in March of 1865 in Virginia. They had the following children: (1a) Lincoln Dunham born on June 4, 1884 in Johnson County, Missouri, (2a) Irene Dunham born on February 2, 1887, (3a) Gracie Dunham born in March of 1890 in Missouri, (4a) Robert Dunham born in August of 1892 in Missouri.
(f) Sarreptia A. Dunham was born in April of 1863 in Henry County, Missouri and died in May of 1917 in Johnson County, Missouri.
(g) Irene E. Dunham was born in August of 1865 in Henry County, Missouri.
(h) Mary Lenz Dunham was born on March 6, 1868 in Henry County, Missouri and died on October 13, 1868 in Henry County, Missouri.
(i) Ida M. Dunham was born in August of 1870 in Henry County, Missouri.
(j) Winfield W. Dunham was born in 1872 in Henry County, Missouri.
(1a) Joseph H. Dunham was born in April of 1877 in Johnson County, Missouri.
(2a) Georgie A. Dunham was born in March of 1879. She married a Mr. Morse.
(3a) Theodore Gruver Dunham was born in Holden, Johnson County, Missouri on August 10, 1881. He died on December 18, 1965 in Patagonia, Santa Cruz County, Arizona. He moved to San Rafael Valley, Arizona in 1912. He engaged in farming and mining. He married Ellen Marie Peterson on February 17, 1906 in Rock Creek, Pike County, Arkansa. She came from Stolckholm, Sweden when she was three or four years old. Her parents were: Peter Eric Peterson and Christine Marie Anderson. Theodore and Ellen had the following children: (Aa) Laura Gertrude Dunham, (Bb) Gurnie Windfield Dunham, (Cc) Albert Eugene Dunham, (Dd) Ray Howard Dunham,(Ee) Mable Eleanor Dunham, (Ff) Chester Norman Dunham, (Gg) Louis Donald Dunham, (Hh) Helen Dunham, (Ii) Francis Marie Dunham.
(4a) Maggie B. Dunham was born in Februay of 1884 in Johnson County, Missouri.
(5a) Lula G. Dunham was born in March of 1886 in Johnson County, Missouri. She married a Mr. Morris and then a Mr. Fortney.
(6a) Warrin W. Dunham was born in April of 1889 in Johnson County, Missouri. He married Jessie Stanford.
(7a) Diel Ray Dunham was born on July 27, 1894 in Blairstown, Johnson County, Missouri. He died on December 9, 1975 in Kansas City, Missouri. He is buried at Holden Cemetery in Holden, Johnson, Missouri. He was a carpenter, housepainter, and in later years a proprietor of the Dunham Used Furniture Store before retiring. He was a veteran of World War 1. He married Ms. Millie.
