Thomas Ratcliff
born 1844 Montgomery County Va. Thomas enlisted in March 1862 into the 24th. Virginia Infantry Regiment Co.K,He served until November of 62 as a pvt.
Thomas was wounded and possibly captured and exchanged. He served the remainder of the war in the 54th. Virginia Infantry.
Thomas who was a widower at age 63 married my grandmother who was 19 at the time.They were married in Bristol Tenn. April 17,1907.They had 6 Children. Thomas Ratcliff was 77 when he fathered his last child (Addie) who was born in 1920.He died about four years later. Thomas Ratcliff died May 1,1923

Hattie Lee Lovell
born June 9, 1888 Montgomery County Va.in the Dry Valley community. I have just found one of my second-cousins or I should say he found me.I can never thank you enough Everette Martin for contacting me and giving me the names of my Great-Aunts and Great-Uncles.Hattie's brothers and sisters names are Nellie,Anne Kate,Gladys,Willie,Mary,Reuben,Crucy,Ward,Perry and Albert.My Great-Grandfather and Great-Grandmother are buried in Laurel Hill Church of Christ cemetery in Dry Valley,Virginia.I am told that my Great-Grandfathers house is still standing and they ran the post office out of it.

My beloved Grandmother,who married Thomas Ratcliff also had married two more times.After Thomas died she had six children to care for and in those times like now it's not an easy thing to do alone. She married my Grandfather William M. Stump who had been married to Mary F. Collins.My Great-Grandfathers name was Alexander and my Great-Grandmothers name was Betty.My Great-Grandfather and Great-Grandmother were from Floyd County VA.

  So when William married my grandmother he had 13 children, she had six children from Thomas Ratcliff and they had three children together. They were Burnett,(my father) Frank,and Robert my uncles. William Stump died May 3,1928. She also married a Mr. Thornton I don't know his first name, He died in 1936. My beloved Grandmother died Jan. 15,1963.At the age of 74.
