Camp ALAFLO Camp Alaflo Scout Camp is located in New Brockton, Alabama. The adventure of summer camp at Camp Alaflo upholds the ideas of Scouting and keeps the promise of "fun with a purpose" flourishing. It is no wonder that the destination for many campers in the summer is Camp Alaflo. The camp has 13 campsites, ranging in size from two to six patrol sites, in an idealic woods setting with running water in each site. Camp Alaflo is proud of its large modern shower facilties with separate showers and toilets for men, women, and youth. Meals are served in a large enclosed dining hall which is air conditioned and can double as a classroom and theater with multiple large wall mounted TV/Video sets.
In addition to summer camp, Camp Alaflo can offer troops camping at other times of the year an ideal setting in one of its 13 improved camp sites. Alaflo Scout Reservation also has a number of cabins that can accommadate up to 10 people. Other Camp Programs

Rawhide Campers

A first year campers program, called the Rawhide is offered for all new Scouts. This program is ideal for the boy who is new to the troop, not yet or just made Tenderfoot, and attending camp for the first time. A variety of activities are provided, icluding, but not limited to swimming, water craft introduction, Scout skills, and camping with a separate overnight away from the main camp.

Honor Troop Competition

The honor troop program includes evaluation in Scouting spirit, uniform appearance, punctuallity, and more. Each troop trying to earn honor troop must also participate in a service project at Camp Alaflo. Can your troop handle the competition

C.O.P.E. - Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience


During each week of summer camp, both COPE I, the low course, and COPE II, the high course, is offered to our campers. Each course is 1/2 day for the entire week. A minimum number of campers must sign up for the courses to be conducted. There is an extra fee for each person to take the COPE course. There is a minimum age requirement of for these courses. Can you meet the challenge?

Water Carnival

On Friday afternoon, Camp Alaflo host a water carnival in which troops can compete in a variety of water front activities. Winners of the competitions will be announced at the big campfire program that evening.

Parents Day

Each Thursday evening during the summer season, Camp Alaflo hosts parents day. Each camper is encouraged to invite his family to join him at Camp Alaflo to see first hand what is going on. Families eat the evening meal with their camper and attend a special campfire program that evening.

Summer Camp Staff '99

Camp Alaflo is looking for qualified, enthusiastic scouts and scoutersto fill the staff positions for the 1999 summer camp season. About 40 youth and 15 adult positions will need to be filled. If you are interested, or know someone who is, contact the Council Scout Office as soon as possible. Interviews for Camp Alaflo staff positions areheld in December in the Council Service Center in Dothan
Scouts must be 14 years old by May 31, 1999 to be on staff this summer.

Alaflo Scout Reservation Summer Camp Costs

Camp fees are $130.00 per week per camper. If a $25.00 deposit is made per youth by March 2, 1999, each youth will receive a $15.00 discount off total fees and will receive a pre-registration patch upon arrival at camp. This deposit is non-refundable, but may be transferred to a new youth not pre-registered for camp. To receive and additional $10.00 discount per Scout, your troop must have 100% of camp fees paid by May 1, 1999.
There is one exception to no discounts after March 2, 1999. Any new Scout who joins the troop during the spring will receive the advantages of all discounts provided there is a letter from the Scoutmaster verifying his tenure. There are also two exceptions to the nonrefund of fees paid rule. (1) Summer School with a letter from the boy's teacher or principal, and (2) Sickness with a letter from the boy's physician. All fees will be refunded to the boys family in either of these two cases.
A $25.00 per patrol site (8 boys) will hold a site for a troop until camp fees are paid. One adult attends free with every 8 paid campers. The fee for other adults attending is $50.00 per week for meals.

Vistor Meals are $3.00 per person per meal.
Adult meal tickets (12 and older) for one week are $50.00.
Youth meal tickets (11 and younger) for one week are $35.00.
