Sometimes a recipe will call for a measurement with which you are not familiar. Here is a conversion chart that will help you out if you get stuck.
MEASURING LIQUID INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon = 1/2 ounce
1 jigger = 1 1/2 ounces, or 3 tablespoons
1 cup = 8 ounces, or 1/2 pint
1 pint = 2 cups
1 quart = 4 cups, or 2 pints
1 gallon = 8 pints, or 4 quarts
MEASURING DRY INGREDIENTS
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
1/4 cup = 4 tablespoons, or 12 teaspoons
1/3 cup = 5 1/3 teaspoons
1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons
2/3 cup = 10 2/3 tablespoons
1 cup = 16 tablespoons
1 pound = 16 ounces
1 bushel = 4 pecks
