Hellen of Blither Blather
Some highway signs I see are so superfluous that I figure if I touched them they be slimy with grease and smell of pork pork pork. These signs, maybe four or six of which stand in the ROW along I-12 between Slidell and Baton Rouge, are rather interesting. They remind one, as do the Desoto Trail signs in west Alabama, that this once was frontier territory for European settlers. And, although south Louisiana's culture is pervaded with an Acadian flavor, this actually was a part of what was called Florida during earliest colonial times.

So come vist south Louisiana this summer and wave at the authentic conquistadors, right?
