Anthony Bontempo, a 7 year old from Center Moriches, N.Y., is
a soccer player, baseball player, brother of a boy and 2 little girls and a
cancer patient.
This spirited boy was first diagnosed with ALL,
Acute Lymphblastic Leukemia when he was 3 years old. Anthony
received 2 years of chemotherapy, spinal taps, bone marrow
aspirations, numerous hospital admissions and 1 year of
maintenance therapy.
In April 2001 Anthony relapsed. His best chance of
survival & recovery is to have a bone marrow transplant. He is
currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment and will hopefully be
receiving the bone marrow transplant sometime in Sept 2001, at the
Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. There Anthony will
remain in the hospital for 4-6 weeks with no visitors except his
parents. Post transplant because of his severely suppressed
immune system, Anthony must be totally isolated from everyone
outside his immediate family, missing school & activities for
up to 1 year.
The bone marrow transplant with its associated expenses is a
very expensive proposition for any family, and so we ask for your
help.
