Notes for ISAAC HERRIN:

Did not settle in Western KY, but his family played an important role in the history of the area. Issac and his family stopped in Hopkins County about 1812 on their way from NC to S. IL.

The spelling of Issac's surname is interesting because it is spelled Herrin in NC and apparently in KY, since the marriage of Sarah spells the name Herrin. In TN, however, the Herren spelling is used. Then in IL, a "g" is added to become Herring, but later dropped to return to Herrin.

The railroad was named for Ephriam in Herrin, IL Ephriam was the son of Alfred Jackson Herrin, oldest son of David and Sarah (Sally) Herrin.

It is not known when Issac died but apparently he was alive in 1832 when the last Indian uprising in the area occured. A historical note states that the men of "Herrin's Prairie" (note difference in spelling of the name) joined others, including Abraham Lincoln, from across the state to quell the uprising.

There is no record which shows how many Herron and Herrin family members migrated tosouthern IL with Issac, but it is known that Sally and David went along with the group. And there is a good possibility that at least one, and probably two, other sons of "Old" John moved with the caravan or a short time later.
