Generation No. 2
2. JOSEPH DANIEL2 HERRIN (?1 HERRON) was born 1784 in NC. He married GALAZA ? Abt. 1805. She was born 1786 in SC.

Notes for JOSEPH DANIEL HERRIN:

Brought his family into the Herrin triangle of land sometime around 1825 or 1830 when he acquired land on the border between Union and what was to become Webster County. He is credited with founding the "Herrin" community at the base of "Herrin" Hill, the second highest point in the county.

One other Daniel Herr is known to have been from the Virginia branch which settled in Jefferson County. Just as Daniel & his family suddenly appear in the Hopkins County census of 1830, another Herrin family with the same description of ages & children disappears from the Christian County census where it has been shown since the 1810 General Census of KY.

One of Daniel's sons moved back to Hopkins County toward the Christian County area after his marriage. The one discordant point in the evidence is that the Christian County family is headed by Joseph Herrin rather than Daniel. Even this is not of consequence since in one land record Daniel uses the initial J. in his name.

It is believed that Daniel's full name was Joseph Daniel Herrin, brother of Nathan and nephew of "Old" John, who was shown in the Christian County census of 1810.

It is believed that he acquired a portion of land in the Herren triangle from Absolum Landers, and which adjoined theholdings of William Herrin to the east. Daniel's land began roughly at the "Herrin" Community and ran north toward what was called Pride Station a few years later, then eastward to the then thriving community of Boardly. This area is the northwest corner of the triangle and the point where the TN Herrin's located when they migrated from Benton County some 15 yrs. later.
