TRISOMIE 21

ENGLISH TRANSLATION:
INDOGALAXY: How would you define your music
?
HERVE LOMPREZ: The music of T21 is one
with climates, electronic but human. We are inspired by trips (even inner
thoughts), atmospheres, painting, shades, the "I don't know what" and the
"almost nothing".
What about the first meeting with Indochine
?
We didn't meet the band before the remix,
it was just relationship between record companies. But we had the opportunity
of meeting Oli de Sat when they played live at Toulouse the day the Victories
of Music were given.
What was the exact briefing for the remix
of "Le grand secret" ?
Nothing special, except not to deform
the voices.
Have you taken a way rather than another
?
Instinct, feeling and analysis dictate
the way we take for each title. What seemed interesting for this remix
was to get off the original tempo.
What are the typical Trisomie 21 elements
in this remix ?
The sound, the opposition between the
human side (voice, text) and the violent, melodic and synthetic music.
Keyboards, which represent the base of this remix, have always symbolized
Trisomie 21.
What do you think of this job now it is
finished ?
It is often interesting to explore some
different unknown ways, we grow richer in the result. No doubt that the
available version is not the best for us but the more effective !
Before this adventure, were you interested
in Indochine ?
We have been very surprised to be in demand
for this remix. Of course, T21 has always had a different point of view
from the one of Indochine, even if somehow or other both bands are stuck
a certain "underground" label on. At the moment, bands of the 80's are
considerably coming back. Despite of the lack of advertising and of media
they were given at the beginning, they always succeeded in selling. It's
far from being the case for nowadays bands, who, despite of big promotional
help, only realize very small sales.
What do you think of a French popular band
who asks artists in the underground scene to remix his titles rather than
asking DJ's or famous remixers ?
The underground scene conceals a lot of
talents but sometimes without convince. Talent is not only in the hands
of a small quantity of people. Indochine probably wants to avoid the trap
of the "variety" label which is used in France under the title of popular
music. Underground, which brings a rebellious or intellectual side, allows
them to do that. The band express that, through a whish of opening and
of curiosity which pleases us.
Would you do another remix for Indochine
?
Everybody is doing one. Whatever it is,
the remix is our version of "Le grand secret". The music and arrangements
are original creations, only voices don't change. We live this exercise
as a true creation.
What song of Indochine would you choose
to repeat ?
T21 is not really used to repeating, we
prefer to keep energy to create.
What other artists of the general public
(French or not) would you like to remix ?
To remix is not an aim in itself. Of course,
we are interested in some people, the record companies still have to give
us possibilities to do the job in good conditions. To work with an artist
doesn't depend on his quality but simply on a professional relationship.
We prefer a true collaboration and elaboration on one or two titles to
a remix.
Trisomie 21 has been existing for a long
time, but according to us, you have never really been trying to interest
the media. Is it an artistic wish ?
Trisomie 21 has always wished to be heard
by the biggest number of people across the world, but our artistic choices
and vision of things have taken us away from the media. Is it a wish ?
Yes, because we knew some choices would definitively be obstacles.
A lot of listeners discovered you through
titles in the compilations "Musiques de nuit" and "Ballades nocturnes".
(Realized by Max, animator on the French radio Fun Radio) Do these titles
represent Trisomie 21 ?
The titles for "Ballades nocturnes" or
"Musiques de nuit" have been ordered by Fun Radio. These titles are an
integral part of Trisomie 21, they are sometimes difficult to be understood
because they are not in a complete album.
Do you have a few words for our readers
?
Thank you for being interested in Trisomie
21. His world is not easy to enter, but let you guide, we will do the rest.
