SHALOM and welcome to "Heymish", the Online Magazine for Jewish Women!
The magazine's idea was born when going through several journals, ezines, websites and magazines trying to find some information on what it means after all TO BE A JEWISH WOMAN in a spiritual and practical way, but also on Jewish home keeping.
The results were not overwhelming, and rather frustrating.
There are a lot of internet sites dealing with Jewish recipes, but what about DIY, decorating your home, Jewish crafts and all the everyday things one does and needs in a Jewish home?
There are even more sites dealing with the position and aspects of being an observant Jewess, wonderful articles written by scholars, rabbis and writers. We wanted a combination of everything.

Proposing the idea to a few friends, everybody was enthusiastic.
The idea was to publish a magazine for ALL aspects of life for Jewish women, so finally we came up with two concepts.
J-W JOURNAL is the magazine after all, but “heymish" is the cosy corner of it.
Maybe it is a fact that as modern women with a responsible job and a career, we should feel intimidated by discussing things that have to do with cleaning, cooking and transforming our home into a warm and cosy place?
That we are put into the category of "kinder kuche"?
After all, these are the things we are (also and some of us daily) dealing with, and a topic that is widely ignored so far.
Let us ignore all the possible prejudices from several sides and exchange our knowledge and experience on what "heymish" stands for: a warm and cosy Jewish home!
