| All three sets of the Horatio Hornblower movies originally aired on A&E as a mini series before being released in DVD collections complete with extras. They are stunning and beautiful and based on the classic novels. The first collection (4 movies) is based on the first book while the second collection (2 movies) is based on the second book. The last two movies are based on the third book. Each movie is filled to the brim with non-stop action, adventure, mystery, dazzling effects, awesome actors, humor, emotion, heart touching characters, and everything else you need to keep you on the edge of your seat! If you love action and adventure, then you’re sure to love and cherish these movies. They are some of the best book-based movies I’ve had the pleasure of watching. You don’t have to be a history or war buff to enjoy these films. Even though these movies are based on the novels, they have slight changes to the story and characters, making them a special treat regardless if you've read the books or not. And I highly recommend reading the books too because some things in the movies may not make much sense unless you’ve read the books. But when you watch these movies you'll live out C. S. Forester's classic stories like never before while also taking a trip back in time to one of the most bloodiest wars in British history. These movies are breathtaking as well as being well directed. I have never seen movies that come as close to the novels they were taken after like these are! I say get them!! Enjoy watching them over and over again, and meet some new awesome heroes and friends! |
