Most surviving fabric commemoratives
consist of Irish linen tea towels. The pristine condition in which most
of them are found suggest that most of them were never used, since the
fabric is as crisp and the colors are as bright as if they had never been
laundered. Many designs exist showing unflattering portraits of the couple,
while others show St. Paul's Cathedral or floral designs surrounding their
initials. Other fabric collectibles include polyester or silk scarves with
portraits of the couple or beautiful floral designs, as well as lace panels.
The sofa pillow was designed
and hand printed by Hugh and Sophia Blackwell and the pincushion was created
by Mary Gardiner for Cuckoobird.
On the back of the pincushion it reads, “Designed to Celebrate the wedding of HRH The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer, July 29, 1981.”
Clothing was also manufactured
to mark the occasion. A recent ebay auction featured a colorful three-piece
outfit consisting of a one piece sun suit, jacket and hat made of fabric
that featured wedding bells, St. Paul's Cathedral, and banners saying Royal
Wedding on the cloth. The manufacturer's label read Joanna Haynes.
