Apple Crumb Pie |
This is a wonderful, quick dessert that's especially good on crisp fall days. It is equally good hot or cold and is only improved if served with either ice cream or cheddar cheese. |
9" unbaked pie shell 5 - 7 tart apples (about 5 cups) 1/2 c. sugar 3/4 t. cinnamon 1/3 c. sugar 3/4 c. all-purpose flour 6 T. firm butter Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Pare apples; core and cut into eighths. Arrange in pie shell. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and the cinnamon; sprinkle over apples. Mix 1/3 cup sugar with the flour, cut in butter till crumbly. Pile over apples. Bake at 400 degrees for 35-40 minutes. If pie browns too quickly, cover edges with foil. |
