developed by Dr. Neugebauer and Kurt Erfurth Jumo 211 The Jumo 211 is a further development of the Jumo 210H with an increased volume of 35 liters. It was a parallel developement to the Daimler Benz DB601, but later both engines were used on several aircraft designs, the Jumo 211 mostly on bomber aircraft, like the Ju88. The developement was launched upon a RLM request of 1934 for a 1000 hpr engine of 500 kg weight. A prototype series was built during 1935 and tested during 1936 The initial production type was the Jumo 211A-0 to A-3, which were built since April 1937 and which were capable for 735kw (A0), 790kw (A1) and 809kW (A3) take off power. This type got an automatic injection pump and a two drive loader system for altitude and ground loading, as well as a load pressure and RPM regulator. The serial production started in 1937 and in November 1937 the first serial aircraft were delivered with this new engine. The Jumo 211 became one of the most successfull Junkers engine. A lot of derivates Jumo 211A to 211R were built. More than 68248 Jumo 211 engines were built, most used on Ju 87, Ju 88 and Heinkel He 111. Several production lines were initiated for the Jumo 211 production: Dessau 1086 prototypes, test engines Magdeburg 24267 July 1937 to Aug. 1944 Kothen 20911 1938 to Feb. 1944 Leipzig 17032 1942 to Aug. 1944 Stettin 4714 only 1942 Strassburg 238 1943 to Feb. 1944 The Jumo 211A, B, D, G and H differed in gear ratios and r.p.m. The Jumo 211F and J got a strengthened crankshaft, a fully shrouded supercharger impeller, boost control, injection pump control and a pressurised coolant system Jumo 211N and P were similar to the F/J series with increased r.p.m. and a boost pressure, while the Q-series got a turbo supercharger. Aircraft Types equipped with Jumo 211: Dornier Do 217 V2 to V6 and C0 While the first prototype V1 was equipped with two Daimler Benz DB601 engines, the following prototypes V2 to V6 got the Junkers Jumo 211B-1. This engine was taken due to problems of the Diesel engine development. Finally most Do 217 were equipped with DB603 and BMW801 engines. Only nine Do 217-C0 series were also equipped with the Jumo 211B-1. They were used for trials of the dive brakes. Focke-Wulf Ta 154 V1 to V7, some A0-series The prototypes of the Ta154 night fighter V1 to V7 were equipped with Jumo 211F-2. V2 got a combination of a 211P and a 211N. The production line was started in 1944. Most serial aircraft were equipped with Jumo 213, but initial production aircraft were still equipped with Jumo 211N. Focke-Wulf Fw 491 The projected bomber successor of the Fw191, the Fw491 should be equipped with four Jumo 211J. The project was not realized. Gotha P.3 This destroyer project at Gothaer Waggonfabrik should be equipped with two DB600 or two Jumo 211 in 1935. Finally the projected was stopped. Heinkel He 111E, F, H A lot of Jumo 211 engines went into the Heinkel He 111 production. Most prewar series of this bomber were equipped with BMW or DB engines. The Jumo 211 was first used in Heinkel He 111E series. They were equipped with the Jumo 211A-1 in 1936/37. This series was followed by He 111F-0 and F-4, which also used Jumo 211A-1 In 1939 the production of the Heinkel He 111H was started. As the DB engines were now mainly used for fighter aircraft, the war series of the He 111 were equipped with the Jumo 211. Initial series He 111H-0 to H-2 got the Jumo 211A-1, H-3, H4, H5 and H-8 got the Jumo 211D/H, while H-6, H-9, H11 got the Jumo 211F-1. The Jumo 211F-2 was used within the H-16 to H-23, as well as in the carrier He 111Z-1 Junkers Ju 88A, C Large numbers of Jumo 211 were also used within the Ju 88 production. Initial prototype Ju88 V4 to V10 were equipped with Jumo 211B, while V1 to V3 got a DB600. The initial production line Ju88A-1 to A-3, A-6 and A-7 got the Jumo 211B-1/G-1, while A-4 series first had the Jumo 211F-1 and later the J-1 version. A-8 to A-11 were equipped with Jumo 211F-1, while A-12 got the Jumo 211G-1 Final A-series A-14 to A-17 had the Jumo 211J-1. The destroyer version Ju 88C-0 to C-2 had two Jumo 211B-1/G-1 again. The Ju 88 C-6/C-7 and the initial D-0, D-1, D-3 and D-5 series got the Jumo 211J-1. Ju 88D-2 and D-4 had the Jumo 211B-1/G-1 Later Ju88 version were equipped with BMW engines or with the Jumo 213. Junkers Ju 90 While most Ju90 aircraft were equipped with BMW engines, V2 was equipped with four Jumo 211F engines for experimental trials. The Jumo 211 was finally dropped from the engine selection. Junkers Ju 252 The Jumo 211F-1 was used on the transport aircraft Ju 252. Prototype V1 and serial line Ju 251A-1 were all equipped with this engine. Messerschmitt Me 323V-14 A single giant transporter Me 323 V-14 was equipped with six Jumo 211F. The standard engine of this aircraft was the Gnome & Rhone 14N. The single Jumo equipped aircraft was only used for experimental flights. Messerschmitt Me 264 V1 The long range surveyer Me 264V-1 was equipped with four Jumo 211J-1 Further prototypes V2 and V3 and the serial production line got the BMW 801.
