Introduction to the Sankeertana

Bhaavamulona… sankeerthana by Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya in Telugu is an expression of the devotee and his inclination towards the Lord to chant his nama mantram in his heart as well as on his lips.  That means that the devotee is required to always tune his body and mind (meaning physical and mental faculties) to bring himself nearer to the Lord. Sri Annamacharya meant that the devotees of the Lord have nothing other than filling one’s mind with the Lord’s praises!

The sankeerthana is in the reported speech; it is a directive to one’s mind to always follow the footsteps of the great souls in deeds and thoughts. The names of the Lord, viz. Sri Hari, Vishnu and Achyuta have been used in this Keerthana for the mind to follow and recognise the Lord.

Meaning

Pray and praise the Lord as Govinda, Govinda inside your heart as well as around yourself.

Incarnations of all the Gods are none other than Sri Hari himself;
All of this Universe is none other than Sri Hari himself;
All the vedic chants and mantras are none other than Sri Hari himself;
So, chant Hari, Hari, Hari, Hari, all the time, Oh my mind!

All that happens in this Universe are an outcome of deeds of Lord Vishnu himself;
All the Vedas are in admiration and praise of Lord Vishnu;
Lord Vishnu is the one that is utmost, ultimate, highest in the Universe;
So, try to search for Vishnu, all the time, Oh my mind!

The beginning and the end (of this Universe) is none other than Achyuta yourself;
The killer of the gigantic and tyrannical asuras is none other than Achyuta yourself;
The Lord atop the Venkatadri Hill is none other than Achyuta yourself;
So, pray for His asylum, His protection all the time, Oh my mind!
