Introduction to the Keerthana

The Keerthana directs the human beings, who are mortals, to serve Lord Venkateswara rather than hankering around other human beings, who are also mortals, for favours and the like. It also aims at selfless service to the fellow-human beings in whom one can find the Lord, as enunciated in 'Manava sevaye madhava seva' since the Lord is omniscient, omnipotent and all-pervading! The splendour of the song is that the Lord grants His devotees the supreme status which they have never thought of or expected! The hidden meaning is that the devotees are bound to stroll along the Vishnupadam and attain salvation.

Meaning of the Sankeerthana

Having born as mortal (human being) and having served mortals (human beings), should you continue to suffer everyday? (Why should you suffer serving human beings? Instead, serve the Lord.)

You penetrate into the forbidden places for a small stomach; you beseech for a fistful of food; you yearn to live a happy life at your own place and indulge in such similar futile exercises, instead —

Serve the Lord who is born with you, who is mingling with you, and who is just around you (to help you); Service that handsome Lord Venkateswara (that beautiful image of the Lord) whereby scale that summit which is not easily possible.

Meanings of certain words as used in the keerthana:
Manujudu=human being (mortal); juttedu=a small portion; kadupu=stomach; chorani=forbidden; chocchi=penetrate; pattedu = a fistful/handful; bathimali=beseech; vatti lampatamu=futile exercise; andarilo = in/around/in-between; andamaina = beautiful/handsome; andarani = not usually ascendable/a difficult task; padamu = post/status/rank.
