Introduction to the Sankeertana

The Sankeertana is one of the 32,000 sung by Sri Annamacharya in praise of Lord Venkateswara.  The devotee describes the Lord in all possible ways here. The devotee, now having come under the protection/sharanam of the Lord, prays that Salvation be granted to him.

Meaning

Srimannarayana, Oh Lord, I bow before Your Lotus Feet!
Let me be blessed with the grant of Your Asylum!

Oh Lord, the glow in your face is as radiant and tender as a lotus flower;
You are the love of Goddess Lakshmi;
You, the one who flies by Garuda Vaahana;

Oh Lord, so sacred are your Lotus Feet;
         Your Lotus Feet are my Asylum!
You, the Lord of the Seven Hills,
         I bow before You, to grant me salvation, mukti or moksha!!

Oh Lord, You are the 'Purushottama' and the 'Paramapurusha';
You are the grantor of salvation to the learned and saints;
You are supreme of all the dieties;
You are the highest and biggest, yet the tiniest of the tiniest;
You, the Lord of the Seven Hills,
         I bow before You, to grant me salvation, mukti or moksha!!
