Alexia, or Alessia Aquilani which is her real name, was born on the 19th of May 1967 in La Spezia, Italy.

Ever since she was a child, she has been very fond of singing and music. Already as a child she competed in several singing contests. A few years later, when she was in her teens, she joined a popular musical group in her hometown called "I Ragazzi Di Migliarina". She stayed with the group for several years. She also got her first stage experience with this group.

In 1985, the year she turned 18 and her last year in high school, she dedicated herself to singing again, as soon as she was free from her school exams. Later that year she was invited to join a band which worked in discos. This was the start of her professional career. She studied music and opera singing, and she got more and more interested in Italian discos.

She formed a group called "Brother Machine", and in that period she started visiting some important recording studios. She met Robyx (Robert Zanetti)
and in 1991 she became the vocalist of "Ice MC", which was a big turning point for her.

With this group she toured all around the world and they had several big international hits, including "Think About the Way", "It's a Rainy Day" and "Take Away the Colour".

In 1995 there was a conflict between the Ice MC rapper Ian Campbell and Robyx and the Ice MC project moved to another record company. But Alexia stayed at Robyx Productions, and she began composing her own songs. In the end of summer 1995, after a lot of hard work, her first single "Me and You", produced by Robyx, was released. This single was a big success, which proved that she could write great songs, by herself. Two more singles followed, "Summer is Crazy" and "Number One" and in april 1997 she released "Uh La La La" and in may she released her debute album called "Fan Club". The album has received 2 Platinum Records in Finland, 2 Gold Records in Brazil and 1 Silver Record in France.

One of her greatest wishes is to interpret melodic songs, like those by Whitney Houston. Some of her favourite artists is Warren G., TLC, Jamiroquai and Jovanotti. She also likes those old rock/pop groups such as Deep Purple and Queen.

In her spare time she loves to watch her favourite films over and over again, her favourite actors are Whoopy Goldberg and Robert De Niro. She also like aerobics, jogging and body building. She is also very fond of oriental food, especially Chinese- and Thaifood. But she thinks the Italian cooking is the best in the world,
she is for example crazy about Pizza!!

Her favourite color is sea-water green. Her favourite clothes are track suits and here favourite shoes are caterpillar boots and Nikes. She also adores cats, she got three herself (Chicca, Vicky and Mina). Someday she would like to have a big family, and she loves children and she would like to adopt a foreign child, because she is a good-hearted, sensitive and sensible girl. She gets her inspiration from her life and feelings, which makes her songs more real. She also loves to stay awake during the night, writing songs.

In late 1997 the single "Virtual Reality" was released.

Alexia's album was released in the US under the name "Fun Club" and it has been recieved very well over there! Miami is the first U.S. market to "break" Alexia, leading the way for this major international pop star as she cracks the American pop radio market. (Info from Andyman/Popular Records)

In the end of March 1998 Alexia released "Gimme Love" which is an R'n'B inspired song!

In the beginning of June Alexia's second album "The Party" was released in Europe. The album contains 14 tracks in different styles, for example R&B, Pop, Eurodance. Also in June the second single "This Music I Like", from the second album,
was released and it's a fast dancetrack with a strong melodic atmosphere.

Her latest album "The Party" has sold gold in: Italy, Finland and Brazil.
Her first album "Fanclub" has sold double platinum in Finland (over 85 000 copies sold).
"Fanclub" has also sold gold in Poland (over 100 000 copies sold) and Brazil (over 150 000 copies sold).

Alexia has released a new single called "Keep On Moving".
The third album in under production and will be released sometimes in the spring of 1999.
