Stephanie in Aotearoa


Stephanie is of mixed heritage, including the Little Shell tribe of Montana on her father's side. She has a master's degree in Maaori and Pacific Development and a bachelor's degree in Anthropology with a specialization in archaeology. In 2005 and 2006, Stephanie was a Fulbright Fellow in Aotearoa/New Zealand and researched how Maaori land-based cultural heritage is protected at a local government level.


Stephanie is currently an outreach and education specialist at the SRI Foundation in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. She is interested in the preservation of both the tangible and intangible aspects of cultural heritage. Recently, she served as the Program Chair for the World Archaeological Congress conference on the Uses and Abuses of Archaeology for Indigenous Peoples.
