Story Prompt 1

While excavating through the ruins of an old house in Romania, operatives of the United States Paranormal Research Guild uncover a chest which can only be opened by magic. The bolt hex is removed once Professor Benjamin A. Lassen is informed and a letter is uncovered, resting on top of another box inside the chest.

Questions remain unanswered. All the USPRG operatives know about the owner of the house comes from the stories passed down from generation to generation by denizens of the tiny wizarding village nearby. Old stories, they say. Stories of a young wizard named Azrael who knew too much about vampires......far too much. On one cold winter night he disappeared before he could publish the manuscript he had been composing since he was eighteen years old. But what truly happened on that fateful December? How did Azrael's life come to such a fate? What secrets were lost to the fields of paranormal research? Most importantly, how does it all pertain to Professor Lassen and the USPRG?

That, my curious friend, is for you to complete! I will be accepting stories and the winner will have their work posted online for all the world to see!

Here are some pieces of additional information gathered about Azrael from the villagers:

1)Azrael stood 5 feet 7 1/ 2 tall, wore his dark brown hair at near shoulder length, had a copper complexion, dark brown eyes, freckles across his nose and bore a starved appearance caused by the tuberculosis. (Azrael Hadeon-Wingates, cira 1768)

2)Family/Ethnic background:

Father ~ English/Irish ~ Full-blood Wizard

Mother ~ Romanian/Kalderesh Roma (Gypsy) ~ Half-blood Witch

Siblings ~ One elder brother named Radu (died at birth)

3)Azrael had a bizzare accent which sounded akin to a mix of British and his native Romanian, due to the years of schooling he underwent in England.

4)Baptized Roman Catholic at birth and abandoned by his mother after she went mad following her husband's brutal death by a werewolf attack.
