THE FINAL NAIL IN THE COFFIN------08-04-05

It's been another long stop between updates, but if you have been checking out the production diaries in SCREAM-4-ME. then you know how I have been spending my time. That Jason's Jungle with the baby Buffalo and the big male who forced us to back up is online and ready to watch! I also completed production on "My Stalker, Death", which marks the end of production for DEATH PLOTS. We are editing up plenty of extras now and the DVD-R version will be ready for purchase at FANGORIA'S WEEKEND OF HORRORS.

Oops! We haven't mentioned that yet? Yes, myself, Linnea Quigley and Steven Shea will be hosting a film panel about HOODOO FOR VOODOO in September at Fangoria's Weekend of Horrors in New Jersey. We will also have DEATH PLOTS and Abyssmal Entertainment's THE NIGHT OWL (as part of the Wicked Intentions collection) for sale at the Hocus Focus Productions and Abyssmal Entertainment tables.

Keep an eye out for us at other upcoming conventions. Also, drop by that weekend in Sept to meet Brittany Messina Pictured Here

See you there!

Oh, and the first teaser trailer for DEATH PLOTS is online now. Check it out!

If any of the photos do not load for you check back later. We are having a little bit of a bandwidth problem from some of our increased traffic as we sent out press releases about the completion of the movie. Thanks for your patience.

IT'S BEEN TOO LONG-----06-13-05

Sorry, Gang, I have been away working on HOODOO FOR VOODOO with Abyssmal Entertainment and Director, Steven Shea. Check out the Teaser Trailer on the media page and see what an amazing job our DP, Scott Uhlfelder, did on the visuals. This one is going to be hot.

After that I was in Wyoming, Montana and Colorado getting footage for upcoming episodes of JASON'S JUNGLE . I got some big cats in Serenity Springs and my wife picked up the vacation camcorder when a Buffalo forced me to back up about 60 feet in our rented SUV. It was the season for babies too, so expect to see lots of young ones in the months to come on Jason's Jungle.

Now I'm back and in full swing. I started production on SITTING VIGIL, the third installment in the DEATH PLOTS series of shorts and this weekend I begin work on a Sarasota, FL production entitled POSSESSION. Check back soon for a link to that movie's website. I'm helping shoot it, but I'll let the director/producer's page tell you the details.

I will keep you updated better in the coming weeks and sorry for the crashed page earlier this weekend, too many of you tried getting in at the same time, I guess. Meanwhile, if you want to read more about REAPS, DEATH PLOTS, HOODOO FOR VOODOO or anything else I'm working on check my production diaries in the latest issue of SCREAM-4-ME.

ANOTHER STONE IN THE GRAVEYARD----04/15/05

Tax day has rolled around and the only other thing certain in life is Death. Well, we've buried another script with the edited version of REAPS being output to DVD right now. It has a very strange style and some very purposeful mistakes to add to the "reality TV" feel of it.

Check out DEATH PLOTS. to read more about the movie and see some behind the scenes photos. You can also read the production diary entries for it in SCREAM-4-ME Independant Horror-Zine. The diary entries in SCREAM-4-ME are exclusives.

Before you think badly of me. We did not break our deal with THE SCREAM, but rather THE SCREAM became another horror casualty when it was reborn as SCREAM-4-ME Independant Horror-Zine. Visit the website to find out how to buy back issues of THE SCREAM, including issue 3, which has a shot from THE LUNAR PACK as the cover. I had mine signed by Debbie Rochon herself and no, it is not for sale.

You are probably wondering why there aren't any photos from REAPS to accompany this article. Hit the link and you will see them there.

Check back soon for an update on SITTING VIGIL, the third installment in the DEATH PLOTS shorts and be sure to click around the page and look for a very special, funny, cheesey video clip that is hidden around there somewhere. "Alas, Skelly, I knew him well" or something like that.

THE BODY COUNT RISES----04/07/05

This week we start shooting REAPS, another of the films in DEATH PLOTS. REAPS is the story of two Grimm Reapers who are just trying to do their job, while under the watchful eye of the media. It is a comedic look at some gruesome situations.

REAPS will feature the talents of model/actress Hollie Winnard and indie movie favorite Joel D. Wynkoop. Tabatha Gipe returns to do some of the gore make-up for Hocus Focus Productions as well.

"The story calls for a camera operator to follow the Reapers on their appointed rounds, which means a lot of handheld video work, which suits me fine," director Liquori said. "We will be shooting some scenes straight through, which will be harder on the actors, but should give the movie a gritty real feel."

Check back later this month for screen shots from REAPS and catch the movie to find out how our crispy freind pictured above fits into the mix.

MEGACON 2005 FUN!----03/03/05

This weekend Debbie Rochon (pictured left) joined us here in FL for the 2005 Megacon. I shared booth #721 with fellow Florida Filmmakers Andy Lalino ("Filthy"), Chris Woods & Simon Lynx ("Bleed") and Greg Rivera ("The Uninvited"). I was the only one who did not have his own film for sale on DVD because we are still completing the official Brain Damage version, but my distributor supplied me with an assortment of other great indie horror titles.

Hollie Winnard also joined us for the festivities on Sunday and helped announce our upcoming film DEATH PLOTS, which she has recently been cast for. Hollie will be playing "suicide girl in bathtub". Take a closer look at her chest. You know you want to. That is a Brain Damage Films sticker on the left.

I also had the honor of meeting Mr. Lloyd Kaufmann at the event. He was kind enough to kick off his weekend in FL by doing a scene as Professor Necrosis for the "wrap around" segments in DEATH PLOTS. Look forward to a hilarious phone conservation between the Mistress and Professor.

*****************************************************************************

The Mistress Misty segments were also shot this weekend and Miss Rochon was kind enough to make time in her busy schedule to do a scene for a movie I am co-producing with Abyssmal Entertainment, entitled HOODOO FOR VOODOO. I must admit, she looks great in a long black robe!

Lastly, you didn't think I would let this opportunity go by without a picture of me with the lovely Miss Rochon and those are fliers for THE LUNAR PACK we are holding. Remember to keep an eye out for it later this year.

Special Thanks to Raimundo, an aspiring filmmaker himself, for the pictures. Clck his name to visit his site and see many more pictures from the event.

THE GRAVE YARD IS FILLING UP!---2/13/05

Jason L. Liquori, in a whirlwind shooting and editing session, has completed the rough cut of the first short for the DEATH PLOTS collection. DEATH AS A SALESMAN is a dark comedy with enough paranormal elements to keep the fans interested (we hope). Just in case it has a couple of disgusting moments too. There are three other shorts planned for this visit with Mistress Misty, so don't worry if you're not interested in laughing. There'll be plenty of ass-kicking action, a high body count and some very attractive ladies.

Speaking of attractive ladies Debbie Rochon is returning as Mistress Misty. Oh, and on February 25-27 you have a chance to meet her. Find out about that here. The Mistress will introduce a new offspring in this installment and one of her other children is back, but now she's all grown up.

You still want to know more? Check out the DEATH PLOTS production diary exclusively in the UK's THE SCREAM magazine. Now you can buy issues here in the states by visiting the website and paying with PayPal.

CONNECTION BETWEEN THE FULL MOON AND BRAIN DAMAGE?----01/07/2005

Happy New Year to all! And what a way to start the year! Hocus Focus Productions has just signed with Brain Damage Films for WORLDWIDE DISTIRBUTION of THE LUNAR PACK. This is a very exciting development. We are in the process of working with Brain Damage to add more extras, create new artwork and make the new masters of THE LUNAR PACK to make foreign voice overs easier to do.

Keep checking back to find out when and where you can find the Brain Damage version of THE LUNAR PACK. Meanwhile, drop in at Hollywood Video and look for some Brain Damage Films titles there. Rent one or two to hold you over until the new and improved THE LUNAR PACK hits the market.

WE MADE THE COVER!----11-30-04

Less than a month after the official release date THE LUNAR PACK has made the cover of the UK horror fanzine, THE SCREAM. The image below was taken by Nancy Liquori (yes, my wife) at the shooting of the Mistress Misty segments for the project. We fit a lot into that one day of production.

***************************

THE SCREAM was one of the first print publications to carry news of THE LUNAR PACK's impending arrival, so it is fitting that they run the first print story on the project as well. You can visit the website THE SCREAM FANZINE to find out how to order copies.

While you're waiting you can also read the four star review of THE LUNAR PACK at Film Threat .

ANOTHER GREAT SHOOT AT SAFARI'S SANCTUARY IN BROKEN ARROW---11-11-04

Hollie Winnard and Hocus Focus Productions donated some time, along with nature photographer, Nancy Liquori to shoot some photographs to help benefit Safari's Sanctuary in Broken Arrow, OK.

Hollie was a natural with the animals. The volunteers at Safari's helped a lot too. Jade, the tiger seen above, is very sweet natured due to hand raising. She was born at a zoo that had no room for her and given a home by Lori Ensign and her team of volunteers at Safari's Sanctuary in Oklahoma.

You don't have to be a model to get close to the animals at Safari's either. The cabin pictured here can be rented for an overnight stay. It is wonderful to fall asleep hearing lions and tigers roar and to wake up to Howling wolves just 30 feet outside your window.

FLICKS ON FAIRBANKS TO SCREEN DARK ROSE: 700 YEAR ITCH--10/29/04

NOVEMBER 1, 2004, Flicks on Fairbanks will extend my favorite holiday by a day and have a horror movie editiion.

They will be doing the FIRST public screening of the short werewolf movie DARK ROSE: 700 YEAR ITCH,

which is the first short showing on THE LUNAR PACK DVD.

So this Monday stop by Austin Coffee and Film on Fairbanks avenue for Flicks on Fairbanks. Hope to see you there!

You've been reading about Debbie Rochon's involvement with THE LUNAR PACK DVD here, but she has been up to a lot this year. Find out what else she's been doing at Fangoria. While you're there check out the photo taken by my wife at the Mistress Misty shoot.

Local Film Maker to Contribute New Video Collection to Hurricane Relief

Actresses from The Lunar Pack will also be on hand to sign pictures and DVDs

Tampa, FL---Award winning independent director, Jason Liquori, will be participating in the Halloween Horror Picture Show II on Saturday, Oct. 30, which will benefit hurricane relief. Cast members will be on hand during the event to sign DVDs and pictures from The Lunar Pack collection (a three-story collection about werewolves, all tied together with appearances by horror icon Debbie Rochon portraying Mistress Misty). Hollie Winnard will also be on hand to publicize a future feature for Liquori.

Liquori believes he has picked a group of stories with a built in market. “Horror films have an audience searching for new, fun stories,” he said. “The Lunar Pack will give people just that, mixing horror with humor and a bit of mystery.”

A New York native, Liquori is starting to be recognized at film festivals in his home base of Florida. He received “The Shortie” at the 2003 Showcase Shorts Film Festival for “Hit and Miss.” Other shorts have also been shown at festivals in the Florida area.

Ms. Rochon has done more than 100 independent films and was named “Scream Queen of the Decade” in 2002 by Draculina, during a voter poll.

The Hurricane Relief will include all profits from the signings and $1 per DVD. All proceeds from admissions will also be going to Hurricane Relief.

For more information call (407) 814-7929.

DVD COVER WINNER 10/04/04

The votes for the DVD box cover are closed. The response was pretty good and closer than we had thought. With message board votes and email votes the Webless cover won by only three votes. Confronted with this, the Producer used his power of veto and we will be going with the webbed cover for the sale of the special "Bootleg Buster" version of the DVD. A darker, more horror film looking cover, has been developed to present to outside distributors and wholesalers. It is pictured below

DVD COVER MOCK-UPS 9/28/04

Those of you who have been following the progress of the THE LUNAR PACK DVD know that is due out in just over a month. (Check back soon for money saving coupons!) We have gotten some concept art from the Graphic Designer and these are the two possibilities the director, Jason L. Liquori, has narrowed it down to. Feel free to email a vote for the cover you would like on a video shelf to hocfocprod@yahoo.com. Be sure to put "Box cover vote" in the subject line. Tell us if you like it with the web or without.

Thanks.

MISTRESS MISTY SEGMENTS WRAPPED 9/22/04

Well, I should have posted this sooner, but the footage was so cool I just had to start editing immediately after my trip to Oklahoma. (read about that below) The shoot in New York with Debbie Rochon was a smashing success. Our location at the College of Mount Saint Vincent provided not only a studio, complete with a blue screen wall, but also a castle to look at for inspiration (and maybe a few shots).

As stated in the earlier release we had a lot to do and very little time to do it, so we jumped right in. Ms. Rochon is an extraordinary professional. She had an instinctive feel for the Mistress Misty character that helped bring my vision to life and in the time alloted. We actually had just enough time left to shoot some footage I hadn't planned on, but it should make a funny addition to the DVD.

Check out the picture below to get a glimpse of Misty demonstrating just one of her strange habits influenced by her unusual children.

And here is a picture from the shoot.

JASON'S JUNGLE 2005 SEASON BEGINS PRODUCTION 9/10/04

Jason's Jungle, our monthly online wildlife show, is edited monthly, but the episodes are shot well in advance due to the travel involved. We have just finished shooting at our first location for 2005, Safari's Sanctuary in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Safari's fits the shows philosophy perfectly. They provide shelter for animals who would not otherwise have homes, strive to educate the public about animals and why exotic pets are rarely a good idea, and allow for the interaction with animals that I feel is so important for building understanding and compassion.

My experience at Safari's was wonderful and they will likely be featured in several 2005 episodes. If you can't wait to find out more about them, visit their website Safari's Sanctuary.

FEATURED IN THIS MONTH'S DOLPHIN. 9/3/04

My Alumnae newsletter has a blurb about Jason's Jungle, my monthly online wildlife show. Check it out at www.hocfocprod.com. This month it will run a little late due to hurricane Frances, but those in the path of the storm can read my pet safety advice in the "Letters" section at www.crazedfanboy.com

Talk to you all when the storm has passed.

Final Lunar Phase Underway

Prepared by Patrice E. Athanasidy FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Alum Returns to Mount Campus to Wrap Up Three-Story Film Collection Horror Icon, Debbie Rochon, will tie all three Lunar stories together Riverdale, NY---Award winning independent director, Jason Liquori, is returning to his alma mater with horror icon, Debbie Rochon, to complete his newest straight to DVD project. The Lunar Pack includes three shorts about werewolves and will be released in time for Halloween. Debbie Rochon is creating a new character that will introduce the three shorts and reveal her own secrets in the process.

Liquori, a Bronx native, shot portions of his first straight to video feature at the College of Mount Saint Vincent in 1998. He said, "I am excited about returning to one of my favorite locations to shoot. While on campus, I dreamed up many of the stories I have been telling in my movies."

Starting to be recognized at film festivals in his new home base of Florida, Liquori received "The Shortie" at the 2003 Showcase Shorts(TM) International Film Festival for "Hit and Miss." Other shorts have also been shown at festivals in the Florida area, including the Tambay Film and Video Festial and Saints and Sinners I & III.

This time, Liquori believes he has picked a group of stories with a built in market. "Horror films have an audience searching for new, unusual stories," he said. "The Lunar Pack will give people just that, mixing horror with humor and a bit of mystery. Expect endings reminiscent of The Twilight Zone and Outer Limits, which I watched plenty of as a kid."

Ms. Rochon has done more than 100 independent films and was named "Scream Queen of the Decade" in 2002 by Draculina, during a voter poll. With several other awards under her belt, including the prestigious Barbarella Award, Ms. Rochon is squeezing this Hocus Focus Production shoot into her schedule, which includes many festivals.

Liquori plans to do the shoot with Ms. Rochon in one day. "As usual we are on a tight budget and a tight deadline," he quipped. "August 24 is the one day we can all be in New York to get the job done."

For more information or to visit the set with Liquori and Ms. Rochon while on location in New York call (407) 814-7929.
