The Plot

It is 1964, and the first black student has been admitted to the 'Carolina Military Institute.' All new students, or 'knobs' (we called them 'snots' at my school), have to go through a hazing ritual. A senior student is assigned in order to see that this new black cadet, receives no worse treatment than any other.

Dean Lawrence played one of the knobs, and this made it very hard to pick him out (that and the fact that they all had shaved heads). I think I identified him in a scene fourteen minutes into the movie, as the cadet in line after the black cadet.
