Fox Mulder
Fox Mulder, upon graduating from Oxford University with an A.B. in Psychology (1982), entered the Quantico FBI Training Academy. While in the Academy, he aquires the nickname of "Spooky", due to his fascination and strong beliefs in the paranormal and occult. In 1988, Mulder was assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit, earning recognition with the pursuit of criminal John Barnett.
Afer hypnotic regression, Mulder discovers that his sister, Samantha, was abducted by extraterrestrials (or was it a government coverup?). Later we find out that Mulder's parents were given a choice: it was Fox or Samantha. Fox was chosen, by Bill Mulder (his father), as the 'lucky' one to stay. He convinces his superiors to transfer him to the X-Files section, and has been working there since 1991, in hopes to someday find his sister. Samantha's mysterious re-appearence later in the series (Colony, season 2) turns out for the worse, as Mulder discovers she is really a clone, perhaps an alien/human hybrid. Mulder operates on the "trust no one" philosophy (which he aquired in part by a secret source known to him as Deep Throat) ; the only person who he feels he can completely trust is his partner, Dana Scully, who has been working with him since her assignment in 1992. Though his father has been shot (by Krycek), his sister abducted, and his life threatened numerous times, with his determination and the help of Scully, Mulder continues his work on the X-Files.
